WHO IS JOE?! That guys is a BAWSE with the tools.
Ответитьah man yo should have used your mill, just zero in on the side and move across....
Ответитьi havent done much of what you do. but what i have done is use a plasma cutter and that is the most fun ive ever had in a shop.
ОтветитьI love how enthusiastic this fellow is! Keep it up!
ОтветитьLove your video's bro and your enthusiasm, I don't normally do this but keep up the good work, great content.
ОтветитьLooking at options to make a small object. Rewatching this series to decide how feasible it is to do my own investment casting.
ОтветитьLove Joey, great teacher,cheers Alec!
ОтветитьWhen alec picked up that burner, at first, i thought it was a 'nade, and i was like 'OH SH*T"!!!
ОтветитьInventor, solidworks, etc are great for creating templates for those tangential holes
ОтветитьI noticed the band-aids were replaced by electrical tape, have you tried fabric bandages? The cheap plastic kind always come off with mild labor but fabric seem to work for me in general construction.
ОтветитьIt would be really cool to see the weld bead up close when you're done.
ОтветитьI want to buy some propane burners like you mentioned selling on your website, but all I can find is shirts. Am I missing something?
ОтветитьHow the hell do all these hipster boutique metalworks places make a profit? It blows my mind. Everywhere I find blacksmiths in my country they're 'artists' who are getting funded by the government.
ОтветитьIf you can't work it out, hit it with a hammer!
ОтветитьGet you a pipe fitters blue book, and use a pair of dividers to lay out your holes on the side of the cylinder
Ответитьi looked on your website and could not find the burners, i would like to know how much they cost and may want a few. I made a set of my own but they are low quality and sometimes do not work the way i need them to.
ОтветитьThis was published on my 20th birthday lol
ОтветитьI know you have long since finished this project, but there is a tool used for cutting custom angles in hand rail tubing that could be used for this application, called a pipe notcher or a tube notcher. Basically it is just a jig that holds a hole saw at an angle to keep it from walking around while you cut the hole.
ОтветитьYou definitely need a plasma cutter. They are amazinh
ОтветитьAlec you didn't link the burners! Where can we get them from?
ОтветитьI swear to god every rectangular piece of metal they touched they turned into a perfectly round shape. And here I am incapable of drawing a circle with a compass
ОтветитьTo cut your hole, you could also take a 4x4x4 block and cut a hole in it with a fostner bit to the diameter of the burner. If you set the 4x4 block on the top of your steel cylinder and set the angle of the block to achieve the vortex inside of the burn chamber you can then trace the arc of the steel cylinder into the bottom of the wood. Go to your wood bandsaw and cut the arc that you traced and then use a piece of card stock overlaid onto the concave side of the block to trace the inside of the hole the fostner bit gut giving you a template to cut into the steel cylinder.
Ответитьplasma torch with a compass jig would have cut that circle clean in seconds, no touch ups
I spoke too soon, awesome dude
for oval cuts on the cylinder thats at a tangent might try a properly sized disk with a rod rod thru the center (like a plate on a stick) and spot weld the rod end at proper angle to the cylinder to be cut. then use a high intensity light to cast shadow. then draw on the cylinder. then use cutting method of choice to cut the oval?
ОтветитьThose hooks are really close to that light with no lens. Do they have platic sheaths on them?
ОтветитьCut length of tube, put torch inside tube, turn torch on, aim circle of light at foundary, trace around the circle of light with a pen... OVAL! $profit
Ответитьwhere did you get your respirator system that you wear around your waist?
Ответитьdoes anyone know what earphones he uses
ОтветитьI went to the website to look for your burner but all i saw were cell phone cases and T-shirts :(
ОтветитьPlasma cutters are amazing. CnC plasma cutters even more so (since all you do with a hypertherm one is swap out the torch lead and you can swap between manual and machine controlled!)
ОтветитьWhere can I get these burners ? Could not find them on your page
ОтветитьI'm surprised that you don't have a Plasma Cutter yet O_O
ОтветитьI know you have a link there, but that doesn't show what song was played throughout, can someone help me find it please?
ОтветитьIt’s incredible to see you guys take raw steel and create tools that will last many generations. Great work
ОтветитьIf we don't get it right, we can hit it with a hammer and lightly fix it.....
Ответитьi am happy to see i m not the only one love to work hard men nice job :)
ОтветитьIs Joe a permanent part of ur work force? If so are u gonna expand ur work force.. that's something I'd like to see one day on ur channel
ОтветитьWhen in doubt "hit it with a hammer"
ОтветитьIn High School I took second in a state competition for a solid aluminum cribbage board. Cast the blank in the foundry and cleaned it up on a very old shaper. Every thing was perfect, every hole perfectly in line, every edge and corner a perfect 90°. The only reason I didnt get 1st was the guy that won built a full size aluminum and brass grandfather clock. That thing was bad ass. Very respectable to place 2nd to that.
ОтветитьHit it with a hammer and fix
I like your thinking
Hi Alec, Im currently building a forge based on your design here in Australia and was wondering if you would be kind enough to give me the name of the Australian manufacturer of your burners. Im not trying to stiff you but seems crazy to pay the postage from the USA (Bloody expenesive) when they are produced here. Understand if that's not acceptable to you as will keep following you anyway as learning so much. Cheers and have a great Xmas mate
ОтветитьWhere are the burners for sale? All I see is t-shirts and leggings on your website :/
ОтветитьOk Lad, learn to walk the cup and run a proper weld bead lmao.
ОтветитьPreviously, I mentioned that I worked in a steel plant. More accurately, I worked in a stainless steel and inconel casting facility. I was an inspector there but I had the wonderful experience of working in the foundry where I handled the "stupid side" of a crucible. I look forward to seeing what new possibilities a foundry will add to your shop :-)
Ответить“I’m sure we’ll work it out. And I’m sure if we can’t work it out, we’ll be able to hit it with a hammer and likely fix it.” Omfg, he’s assimilating into an American at an alarming rate. I couldn’t hold in my laughter as soon as Alec said that. I’m laughing so damn hard!!!!
PLEASE have in the later videos WHERE you got your refractory and/or kaowool, I’m having a hell of a time finding a supplier.
Nice to watch again Alec
Ответить🦖
ОтветитьI am looking forward to trying out casting!
