Buckle up don't become a puck... You had some good ones. I love Far Side, he must have known a Simmons, because he used the name in some of them. Without cows and dogs the occasional deer and antelope some of this trip would have been downright lonely. I'm so glad they moved the pony truss bridge rather than just just salvage it. I imagine you are through or almost through Arkansas now. The trading post was bigger than a lot of the tiny homes of today, it just lacks wheels. The Indian Nations have the right to govern themselves and they do have their own license plates. Yep eastern Oklahoma has not changed much over 40 years. The mailboxe was covered by the gas tank from a motorcycle., neat. Alcoholics throw the liquor bottles and beer cans out so no one will know, oh and if you only drink beer you are not an alcoholic. After spending 10 days on the upper Missouri River I think a kayak or canoe trip would be awesome. I am considering bike packing, but it will take quite a bit to get me to be able to cycle on noisy, traffic filled roads. Rail trails might be a good start for me though because they don't have vehicle traffic, there are quite a few near me and I could possibly get away and bag a few even with my obligations. I feel you are just having to get used to traffic again after New Mexico, and the Oklahoma panhandle. My Katabotic bivy bag has a water resistant breathable material on top, but it can be a sweat fest in the heat and in buggy conditions the net area is just too small. That is part of the reason for sowing the umbrella bug net, experiment. I am praying you have a clear path further east, the flooding from hurricane Helene, has really made a mess of parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and southern Virginia. Please consider a canoe trip down the Mississippi. I've followed several people on that adventure and it was great. If you plan to stop in Baton Rouge, I'll be there to help, God willing. Goats move in a herd and urge to merge for a highway sign.
