Fantastic work keep going
ОтветитьYou'd think that Starfleet could've provided more than one toilet stall for a communal workspace. What if one of them had a curry the night before and was waiting for the air recirculators to do their job and suddenly Krik calls down a phaser strike? Your minds not going to be entirely on the job, that's for sure.
ОтветитьHaving "filming set accurate" internals is fine, but having as close to real world logical internals is better. I like what you have done with the reimagining of the rooms here with phaser control. It seems more... 🤔 more logical 🖖
ОтветитьOn a military vessel I think a lavatory in a public area could have multiple toilets at 90 degree angles to the back wall with partitions and no spaces in the side walls between corridors and other rooms. That's merely my two cents. I think you're doing a phenomenal job and your interpretation of areas unseen in the original series are as valid as the craftspeople at Desilu that built the actual sets.
ОтветитьWOW your passion for Star Trek and this project is amazing LLAP 😎🖖
ОтветитьYOU, YOU, no one else ARE THE MAN!!! Drop the mic MY MAN you have earned it!!!
Ответитьmost amazing work.... BRAVO!
ОтветитьBang on indeed 👍🏼
ОтветитьGorgeous just gorgeous..
ОтветитьStunning ❤
ОтветитьI feel unworthy to call myself a Star Trek nerd.
You, Sir, are our King.
You should sell prefab kits for tabletop gaming. Good luck with the licensing though. I'd buy them.
ОтветитьYes your rationalization of why it should be designed a certain way I always find to be reasonable. Yes well done this is a correct fusion of the dimensions of the tv set to the spatial requirements of the physical model. Well done keep going Mt Trek!
ОтветитьI like the charging devices. Good creativity on the "Balance of Terror" phaser area. Those so-call dead spaces would be loaded with cables and pipes in a real starship.
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьGood work. It's just amazing and I love the Desilu / engineering explanation. The only thing missing is, how do they get to deck 11? Turbolift or stairs?
ОтветитьYou are a true artist
ОтветитьWOW, looks like the real thing!
ОтветитьYour nerd level is off the scale...and we love you for that
ОтветитьBrilliant solution. You continue to demonstrate you are the man for the job!
ОтветитьLove it mate - keep it up!
ОтветитьMany thoughts about this:
How did it happen that Tomlinson and Styles were the only people in phaser control when that industrial accident happened? Shouldn't there have been some people at the other stations? Is there a gas-tight partition that closes under those circumstances? Were they able to evacuate because they were further from the gas?
We usually don't think of the Constitution class as needing to compromise on anything; we certainly don't think of volumetric efficiency being a thing. But on this small of a deck, that's absolutely the case. There's obviously no room for a turbolift; the only entry will have to be a ladder from Deck 10.
I must admit, my first thought about the black and gold things was that they're part of the phaser system, and that they grey things were power transfer from engineering. It got me to thinking: there are 2 sets of those chargers, but 3 pairs of phaser emitters. What if that was exactly the situation? What if the Constitutions can only use 2 out of 3 pairs at a given time? The portside charger can charge the portside or center phasers; the starboard one can support the starboard or center phasers.
Given how huge the photon torpedo room and torpedo tubes are in Wrath of Khan, and the associated mechanics (with the moving cart that positions torpedoes in the tube, the vacuum hatch between the torpedo room and the tube, etc.), I think the little yellow cylinders are too small to be torpedo tubes, but maybe I don't understand the scale of the set.
It’s difficult line to tread between faithfully recreating the studio sets as seen on episodes and creating a realistic interpretation of the Enterprise, and you are doing an amazing job. It’s astonishing to watch this unfold week after week.
ОтветитьWherever my ship has dead space I add batteries, imagine the number of batteries that are necessary for a starship
ОтветитьYou ambition is commendable. The end product will be priceless. And, I'm impressed with you use of what appear to be Lego bits versus custom manufacturing. Bang on!
ОтветитьHow about installing the occasional hidden Easter egg. Homages to different sci fi movies. That would be fun.
Ответитьwhere''s the turbolift?
ОтветитьI love your “fix” for the phaser control room. Y’know, you’ve essentially said this, but I think you should be treating this project as if the starship Enterprise actually exists and that it was (somehow) dramatized for a TV show called “Star Trek.” The TV producers didn’t have an unlimited budget, so they had to do their best to create sets that looked as much as possible like the actual starship they based their show on. They did quite well, but sometimes they had to compromise and as a result got some of the details slightly wrong (the angle of the console behind the mesh screen, for example). You, on the other hand, are creating a model of the actual starship, not a model of the TV set based on that starship, so naturally enough your model will get those details correct, as well as provide a gazillion details that never appeared on the TV show. That, in any event, will be my head canon going forward. 😉👌
ОтветитьYour demonstration of the repositioning of the sets to create a room seen in a single episode is fabulous! It really ties this project back to the series. Your translation of a TV set to a room on a starship is well reasoned and logical, as well as incredibly well executed. Keep up the great work!
ОтветитьImpressive!
ОтветитьOutstanding.Eye for detail 🏴🇬🇧👍.
ОтветитьA concept of operations, as the NASA folks say:
Under non-alert conditions, there's one pair of operators in phaser control. This is why it is that, even when not at battle stations, the Enterprise can bring one pair of phaser emitters to bear really quickly -- there's always somebody on hand to do it. It also means that under non-alert conditions, only one phaser bank at a time can be used. At battle stations, all 3 watches of phaser operators are present, so any of the 3 phaser banks can be used. The Styles / Tomlinson console, as we saw, is only staffed when the control systems on the bridge have failed. In that case, you have 3 pairs of operators running the phasers and one pair responding to "Fire!" commands from the bridge.
I would guess that the doorway between the two contains doors that can be closed so that the two sections of the room don't disturb each other. Particle accelerator control rooms often use such an arrangement.
All I can say is ... I'm just in awe of ALL the fine detail in building this! Truly a build of love to Star Trek! Thank you!!
ОтветитьAdding: here's my guess about the industrial accident that happened in "Balance of Terror:"
The partition door between the two halves of the room was shut. When the coolant leak happened in the firing room, it locked both sets of doors so that the contamination couldn't get to any of the rest of the ship, most notably the phaser control side of the room.
Kirk called down the order to fire. When nothing happened he went on shipwide, because it was possible that the comms system in the room had failed. It hadn't, but as a result Spock realized something had gone wrong.
Once he reached the door, he knew what had happened because initially the doors wouldn't open. Fortunately, Spock is the first officer: he can override the door lockout. Which he did, and the rest is history.
Great recreation but you forgot the red alert above the doors or alongside them on the wall, just trying to contribute to your tribute to 1701
ОтветитьAmazing!
This is a resolution I didn't anticipate and your work on that new panel is outstanding!
I didn't really worry about areas that might look different from the show because it was clear they often dragged that amazingly-useful mesh screen in front of pre-existing set pieces to suggest other locations, like Auxiliary Control in "Doomsday Machine" or "The Changeling" ( and then how the same room looked different, yet again, in "The Way to Eden").
My hat is off to you, good sir, for your skill, your ingenuity and your continued creativity in solving the problems of bringing this model to life.
Would be interesting to have a diagram of the route bele and lokai took to get to the transporter room.
ОтветитьFantastic work as always. My question is how do the crew get from Phase Control to the deck above? There doesn’t seem to be a turbo lift access point or stairs.
ОтветитьMr Trek, you are awesome. Your interpretation of the existing Enterprise deck plans are inspirational. I picked up the "official" Star Fleet plans when I was much younger and noticed immediately that so much was missing that needed to in the ship. You have handled those omissions with great imagination. It has been exciting to see what you have come up with. I love your Central Park concept. No doubt many crew members would go crazy on a 5 year mission without some earth amenities to help them relax.
Weapons control has also been a problem. Despite the fact that Rodenberry had a "show bible" to keep things consistent from one episode to the next, more than a few shows are now consistent. Weapons control is one one concept. Of course, it makes no sense to have all weapons routed to helm control on the bridge. Your take on the coordination of bridge control with a Weapons control room is very believable. Keep up the good work on all of your design "corrections." I cannot wait for your next video.
Phasers on stun and full speed ahead!
After watching an episode of Match of the Day soon after watching one of your episodes, I realized that you and Alan Shearer have the same accent and sound almost the same.
ОтветитьPersonally I liked the explanation for "dead spaces" 🖖🏾😃🖖🏾
ОтветитьWow! Another great video there!
You do a nice job "filling in the blanks" to our collective Trek knowledge.
So glad I found your channel! Great skills and passion for TOS . 🖖👍
ОтветитьIncredible models - so very impressive. Attention to details and colors and features is just spot on to the original. Even in pieces, your work to date is beyond anything outside the Desi-Lu sets themselves.
ОтветитьWhere do i buy this model kit?
ОтветитьThis is such a cool project, I love watching your updates.
ОтветитьThe phaser banks being capacitors, especially in TOS is made evident in "The Doomsday Machine", where Scotty recharges one of the Constellation's "exhausted" phaser banks just in time for Kirk to fire it off and distract the planet killer from the Enterprise.
And it was recharged off Constellation's impulse engines which were only in "fair shape" according to Scotty.
As has always seemed to be the case, you nailed it! Appreciate your continued dedication to listening to us fans and our inputs...despite how hair-pulling some may be 👍
