I recently bought a MPT sapling and have planted it in a large pot, in soil from what at one time was a compost heap. I am ensuring the soil is never dried out, but nothing more. I live in Scotland and its late winter, so for now I am keeping it on my windowsill in a rarely heated room- partly to avoid frost and also because i like to look at it!

Very soon I will move the pot outside.

People who have seen my pictures of my seedlings have said to get that cane out. Some are about 6 inches and others have bifurcated, but my young ones are nice and green, but some bent and just lent over. What should I do. I have really big canes and really thin like chop sticks size. Should i just leave the all alone until their bigger? I really need advice

I also kept potted monkey puzzle trees and I do agree that deep pots are a must because as soon as their seeds germinate their root is delicate and brittle and long, in my area in the UK they do really well if kept just outside, I never fertilize my trees and they seem healthy either way so I do not see a need for it. They grow rather slow compared to my other trees like my dawn redwood and ginkgos but every tree has its growing pace. ^^
