The replying thing is what gets me. Like how are you supposed to build a community if you aren't going to even try and connect with everyone that comments? I don't understand that logic or how it works.

I think that a lot of people decide not to read any of their comments because its mentally draining to read the negative ones. So they pretend they dont exist. Out of sight out of mind. 😅

I 100% agree with this statement, this is why I like smaller YT channels better sometimes. Your voice gets ignored. I can understand though that people can only read through so many comments if they're popular.

Ya things change as a channel scales, while it's not a time sink in the beginning to comment back, I imagine it would be if you have thousands of comments. And depending on the video subject it might attract weirdos with odd questions that would make you look bad if you responded to them.

Couldn't agree more, I rarely get a comment here and there but when I do I always try to engage especially if there is a question. My biggest thing is that my content is honestly me just capturing what I like to do. If someone happens to like it great and if not at least I got to practice creating and editing videos. You definitely offered some good advice and honest thoughts - I totally appreciate it!

Honestly, as a viewer I don't feel that I am somehow entitled to creator interaction. I can understand people who avoid their comments sections, or have it on read-only. Also it is very easy for people with small channels to become obsessed with their comments and negative feedback, to the point where it destroys their desire to even have a channel.

I hate that other channels, have all these subscribers, but they only put out a video every month or so. I have less than 500 subs, and I put out at least one video a week. I do it since I love making content. I don't like it when channels act like the fans are just there to give them views. There's no connection with the audience.

Exactly! I try to give as much as I take. Especially at gaming conventions. I’m giving away merch all day. Even my 25 days of Christmas giveaways. Just the joy of helping someone make their holidays a little easier. Gaming is supposed to be something fun and not everyone has the means to afford it.

I agree that most creators don't actually respond to comments, even if it is a question but rather just heart it and move on. Almost feels like the hearting is automated.

I like smaller channels more than bigger channels.

I always assumed channels that don't reply to comments, are doing so out of professionalism to not encourage trolls and scammers, so I don't mind it.
It is nice if a channel engages with the audience sure, but there is a risk to it.

I gotta admit I try to reply to EVERYTHINg. Where I struggle is keeping up with other channels new videos. I try to go watch everyones channel I talk to once every few weeks but i gotta admit I fail at this

When you say fake do you mean like skits and goofy things? My entire channel is nothing but fake skits that are based on real life situations. What are your thoughts on that?

I see nothing wrong with making a good raw and honest rant when things need to be said, whether it’s often or every once in a while. Definitely always making sure to reply back and stay retro regardless if it’s gaming or rants. Hope you’re having a good day IDGR.

What up Homie! I usually don't comment on big channels because I think they would be to bombarded to reply. I'v had some big ones like GameSack reply before. Crazy how Femtrooper always replies and she's pretty big now.
I only get 5 to 20 comments per video and sometimes even then some messages slip through my notifications and I feel bad, so that probably happens with big ones more.
