Start off with a tour of Schonlaterngasse, where you will see the Basilikenhaus. Move along to Peterskirche, The Univesitatskirche to see Pozzos trump l’oeil ceiling to St. Stephens Cathedral to see the marvelous pulpit. Take tours of The House of Music and The Jewish Museum. See the pastries at Demel and Café Central. Tour The Imperial Treasury at Hofburg Imperial Palace. There you will also see The Vienna Public Library’s reading room (rated the most beautiful in the world), and The Sammlung Alter Musik Instrumente (Collection of Historic Musical Instruments), The Museum of Arms and Armor and The Ephesos Museum which displays artifacts from Ephesus and Samothrace. End the day with The Belvedere Palace to see Klimt’s “The Kiss,” and The Schönbrunn Palace and Estate.
For Art, Vienna has some of the best museums in the world. Start off with The Academy of Fine Art to see art by Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Rubens, Titian, Francesco Guardi, and Cranach the Elder, and Bosch’s impressive and gruesome Triptych of the Last Judgement altarpiece.
The Albertina Museum includes drawings by Dürer like "The Hare," which are displayed alongside drawings by Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Rubens, Casper David Friedrich. Also see works by Monet, Renoir, Picasso, and Andy Warhol. Also see Klimt’s “Beethoven Frieze” at Secession.
The Kunsthistorisches Museum is one of the world’s great museums. See Egyptian, Greek, and Roman art, including the Gemma Augusta (cameo of Augustus’) and the stolen Cellini “Salt Cellar” in The Kuunsykammer (Art Cabinet) in The Sculpture and Decorative Arts Section. See a plethora of European painting including works by Raphael, Titian, Rogier van der Weyden, Rubens, Cranach, Durer, Rembrandt, and of course, the greatest collection of paintings by Pieter Bruegel The Elder in the world.
