Really surprised how much the recording looks like Doom Eternal. Like--it's obviously not Doom Eternal, but they seem to have kept a lot more stuff than I thought they would.

People who love Doom Eternal will probably love this game. But after playing THE ANCIENT GODS: PART TWO, I'm a little uneasy when something looks like Doom Eternal.

the devs obviously wanted to try something new but in a DOOM context I think they are really jumping the shark with the 2 vehicles AND the slower fps gameplay. time will tell I suppose.

This game looks awesome and I’m glad it’s slower paced, eternal was fun but became more about skill and doing all the things all the time, I want to have a more cinematic experience but still difficult.

Thanks for the video. It's interesting to me that Doom Guy has staying power, but Master Chief does not, especially since they both belong to Microsoft. Who knows. Maybe in 10 years, we'll see Halo redefine the FPS genre. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.

I'm actually really disappointed in the changes they made to glory kills. The big gory finishers were half the reason I liked doom 2016 and eternal, and the new system they have in dark age doesn't look as cool to me. But everything else looks great.

They should reboot the Heretic/Hexen franchise, or a good remake, or at least like digital games on console just like classic Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein 3D etc. oh man those MS-DOS days

To me it still looks similar to Doom Eternal's more forced playstyle, Doom 2016 was just a solid fps game with no weird bells or whistles. The 2 sequals seem to focus on very specific forced 'gameplay combat loops' for lack of a better term. I'm sure most people will love it (much like people enjoyed Eternal) but probably not for me.

I think maybe the best thing about this is that they are always trying new ideas instead of sticking to a market-proved formula. The recent three doom entries are so different from each other yet coherent somehow, and all have their unique greatness. Even if this one turns out not to speak to me, I'm fully into this kind of trying to create new paths in an old genre.

for whatever reason, Doom always makes me nauseous. I am super fine with most 3p games, such as Apex, Quake, etc. but Doom games and even Skyrim make me nauseous. FOV adjustments dont help. Even watching this video made a bit dizzy

Honestly, I just never cared for the melee in the new Doom games. I know in 2016 there wasn't much of it, but I would still just prefer not being forced to do melee as a game mechanic. That might be part of why back when Doom 2016 came out I ignored it in favor of Titanfall 2.
