I tried making this but didn’t have baking powder so I used baking soda instead not aware of the fact that baking soda is extremely strong and makes the batter tastes sour. So I tried the batter, almost threw up and now I’m never making pancakes ever again. Wasted like a whole hour of my time

Baking powder has no flavour so it shouldn't leave your pancakes with a bitter taste. Baking soda needs an acid to neutralize the bitter flavour but these pancakes don't have an acid so baking powder is used. If your baking powder is leaving a bad taste in the pancakes consider trying a different brand of baking powder.
