P - Fixation
1. Soils High In 1 : 1 Clays (Kaolinite) Are Highly Weathered. Hence, They Contain Large Quantities of Hydrated Oxides of Fe and Al. These Oxides Occlude P (Occluded P) or, P is Adsorbed On The Surface Of These Oxides (Surface Precipitated or Adsorbed P).
2. 1 : 1 Clays Have Larger Numbers of Exposed OH Group At Broken Edges. By Anion Exchange Between Hydroxyl and Primary Orthosphosphate Ion, P Is Adsorbed By Clays.
3. pH Dependent Charges Are Developed On The Surface of 1 :1 Clays By Dissociation of OH Group At Broken Edges Which Can Combine With Phosphate Ion By Polyvalent Cations (Ex: Clay-Ca-Primary Orthophospahte) Linkage.....
