The Atlanta Braves are currently in second place chasing the Phillies down. The Braves has a 6-4 win streak. And the Phillies have a 2-8 lose streak. Never count the Braves out. They very well could lose and not make the playoffs, we shall see.

It should scare baseball they are starting to hit the ball like last season and will have Harris, Lopez and Fried back soon with Albies returning early Sept.

Ten days later, the Braves has won 6 of 7 and cut the division lead from last weekend in half. Baseball is funny sometimes. It all started with Mets commentators saying they would take over the #1 WC spot.

As a Braves fan, I, too, was ready to pack it in for the season. But then, I thought back to 2021, winning only 88 games, Acuna going down and losing most of our starters, I thought, hey, look what's happening now: we're getting part of the band back together with Rosario and Soler coming back. Phillies and the Braves are both going in opposite directions as of this writing. It might be another freak world series win. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a sober fan, and I'm not drunk on the Braves going on this current tear. Are they back? Who knows? But like they say, these players will eventually play like the back of their cards. The Phillies aren't going anywhere, and it's going to be a fight for the ages down the stretch like just like the Mets vs Braves of 2023.

8 days since the upload and the Phillies have lost 5 series in a row. 6 of their last 7. The Braves came back in the Mets series to absolutely mop the floor with them in the last 2 games. They went on to Milwaukee and dominated the Brewers and are now only 6.5 games back from the Phillies for the division, despite the fact that a minimum of like 5 all-stars/MVPs/CY candidates are down and out. To me that says the Braves aren't broken but are instead one of the most elite, well run organizations in the world to be able to withstand that and be in the position they are.

I can't even watch the Braves except a few games a year thanks to the regional marketing deals with bankrupt Bally Sports. They won't make it available except through specific cable tv and satellite providers and refuse to carry the content via the most popular streaming services except DirectTV (too expensive) or FuboTv (doesn't have other channels we always watch).

Snitker is horrible as a coach. The year they won the series they had to go get 4 bats at the end of the year to win it. And the hitting coach is deplorable. The year they set records in 2023 it was because Chipper Jones was there giving hands on instruction. He left and it snot helping at all and look at the difference. I have never liked Snitker I mean look at his roster, any man good win the division with that roster. Listen closely, Snitker is NOT anything special

If you like sabermetrics, the Braves are trying to find a way to replace around 16-20 fWAR.

Harris, Murphy (about 5-6 months total lost games), Acuna, Strider (10-12 WAR projected), then Ozzie (2+ months missed) and now Fried and Lopez tbd.

Also, Waldrep and AJSS immediately hit the IL after being called up lol.

They just ran out of bodies to replace that production.

Add in Olson and Arcia having career lows, Murphy’s swing still not being right post-oblique, and Riley being bad for the first half - lol it’s just a never ending list.

Goes to show you how fast things can change. 6 division titles in a row and the organization was projected absurdly high pre-2024, but these things can still happen and completely wreck your season.

The dodgers have had even more injuries. Kershaw just pitched his first game of the season. Glasnow missed a month. Yamamoto has missed almost 2 months and might not pitch again this season at all. Buehler has missed most of the season. Mookie has been out 6 weeks. Muncy has missed most of the season and probably won't be back. Not to mention other pitchers like May , Sheehan , Miller , Gonsolin and graterol have been out all season.

The 2023 team is the greatest team I've ever seen. Not even close. They were so much better than the 2021 team, which won the Series. But, with MLB adding too many playoff teams, they got totally screwed by having to sit out a week. If you know anything at all about baseball, you know that sitting out a week wrecks team routines and momentum. It's bullshit.
