20 minutes in and I'm bored to tears. I don't need explosions or constant action, but there could have at least been some meaningful dialogue between characters.
I'll still be giving it a shot, hoping it's just a very slow burner...

There's been scenes in movies that have made me cry from watching them, but the scene of Andrei Rublev breaking his oath of silence to comfort the child after all the work on the bell makes me cry to just think about, I never thought I could be moved by a movie the way this did, thank you Tarkovsky

Tarkovsky's cinematography was so ahead of its time.

The bell craftman part really touch me, its the whole point of being an artist. He has narrowly avoided death, made something beautiful.

Beautifully shot, but the plot falls short in my opinion. It didn’t provoke me—it just left me cold after three hours of feeling like I was back in high school, 'doing homework'. I can see why this film is praised, but I’m afraid I could have just read a book from Kierkegaard and gotten more philosophical insight while being just as entertained.

A masterpiece... One of the greatest experiences ever seen on screens. True piece of art.

it amuses me that Tarkovsky represents the Pagan woman as primitive and slightly imbecilic, yet maybe I don't quite understand, for I am not Russian, yet it is fitting because Christianity first took root in European cities before it spread to the countryside which is why Pagan means rural person or country folk.

The people cower and flee at the site of invaders, how Christianity has made men so pathetic and weak. The priest always hated the warrior and knew him to be his natural enemy and rival in the Christian world, Andrei too weak to save or defend a woman, and this is your hero? Though, I must admit that this film is extra-ordinary and beautiful.

This movie is a masterpiece. However, I also believe Ivan’s Childhood, his first film, is another masterpiece. In fact, all of his films are masterpieces. I find something uniquely special in his first two black-and-white films, especially since Tarkovsky himself preferred black-and-white over color.

Though I am not and will not be a Christian this movie is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite works of cinematic masterpieces.

A clean Masterpiece

My Medieval History professor had us watch this film for an assignment. I am so glad he did, this is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

Is this the original uncut version or the censored version?

I have seen this film before, totally unforgettable. So now I am keeping it in watch later until the right night for a complete treat , to watch it once more ! Thankyou uploader Mosfilm for all these Tarkovsky films to enjoy, but particularly this masterpiece !
