In EDSM i got the location to a system with 4 black holes, 2 sets of bianarys, and a neutron star with a large ring and a white dwarf and a few other stars all in one system. I went there but was afraid to get close to the black holes cuz i had 200 mil in exp data. i plan to go back. i really like how EDSM keeps track of how much data you have while on a long trip. That 50km exclusion zone is still quite safe for a black hole of that mass
That black hole is shown to have a 11.2539 solar masses (taken from the info on your system map) leading to a Schwarzschild radius of only 33.244 km... just saying

Astro, I have a question. You talk about distance, age, etc, but, how accurate is Elite making systems compared with real space?

I really wish they would make the event horizon completely black. I would also really like to see 2 types of black holes in Elite -

1]. Dormant black hole: the type you see in the game already, just a naked black hole, it would behave the same way it does now.

2. Active black hole: Has an accretion disk. The black hole would have an exclusion zone similar to a neutron star or white dwarf. If you get too close, you are dropped out of supercruise and suffer catastrophic systems overload like when you're in the exclusion zone of the aforementioned stars. It would add a legitimate and real threat of destruction from the most powerful object in the universe that we know of.

A class 1a supernova is when a white dwarf accretes enough mass to overcome its electron degeneracy pressure (hence forming the exact mass limit); it is not when a double blue giant or anything other than a white dwarf goes nova.

in the early days of ED you could fly through black holes (my first trip to Sag A* I could still move through it and I also flew through the one everyone visits first (Mitaka A)).
The effect was really nice with the 'doughnut' just closing in around you. Sadly they removed that and put in the hard exclusion. ...And yeah: in those days droppining into a system that only contained one black hole looked scary as f$%k. The fisrt time I nearly screamed because I wasn't anticipating it (on a multiple jump route bee-lining it to Sag A*)

There's a system near Betelgeuse that has a neutron star and a black hole, the black hole is only about 3000 Ls away, but what makes it scary is that the main star in the system is a Type A star, with the neutron star orbiting it at about 20 Ls

Something like this was discovered only just last year I believe. A dense object with an accretion disk with another almost as dense object that orbitted it in such a way that the second object without the disk would punch through the accretion disk twice very quickly before going out on a wide loop before coming back to do it all again.

And here I was thinking I was cool when I landed on a planet in a binary planetary system while its sister planet was eclipsing the star. I witnessed a solar eclipse on a planet 291 Ly from Earth, and I was ecstatic. For those wondering, the game darkens and brightens the surface as the eclipse progresses, and it shows the motion of the planet across the star occuring in real time.

Ia supernova only occurs with CO white dwarves in a binary system reaching the Chandrasekhar limit, not blue giant collapsing at the end of their main sequence, these are type II supernova.
