Awesome !!
Nicely explained
At first it though his name was Dusty Wheels...
ОтветитьThe soundtrack (drums & motocyle) keep me coming back for more videos...
... the instruction is great too! 😆
What I am taking from this video: 1. Look far away 2. Smooth throttle 3. Don't use brakes (ok maybe rear brake) 4. Stand up and counter weight
Ответитьso this is counter-weighting, a bit like sailing?
Ответитьi am an newbie and idiot, when the gravel road im driving at 80kmph suddenly turns into sand, i usually shift myself to the back seat give it gas, but when it comes to doing 80kmph and then suddenly sand just before a turn, the bike just goes straight, or its just me being tense ... i dont know how i have not fallen and crashed yet, just dumb luck
ОтветитьThanks a lot
ОтветитьI have a fear of cornering and having the bike slide out from under me. I'm a beginner/intermediate (lots of road riding, not so much offroad). This video did not help me; I would say it's aimed at already advanced riders. The title, "learn how to ..." is misleading.
ОтветитьOki. What about clutch? Body weight forward or less forward?
ОтветитьI Love these Videos. I watch them over and over again, and then try to practice what I see. I have really learned a Lot from these. It makes my Riding a lot safer, and a Lot more Fun. Thanks Dusty for making these.
ОтветитьThanks, good advice for my ride in northern Wisconsin today on my GSA. Gotta love the power of the Beemer outta da corners. Ride on!
ОтветитьIn the world of instruction everyone has their own style. Sometimes the simplified explanation for beginners is not quite spot on, but it seems to work for most students. When you talk about moving your weight to the outside, but not moving your weight to the outside and puting the weight directly over the tires: I'm sorry but you are misrepresenting physics. Students may not say so, but you loose credibility when you contradict yourself. I'm sure Bret would explain that you want to lean the bike under your body. This is called counter balance. As an instructor, I'm sure you know this. When the "weight" (COG) is not directly over the wheels, it's called falling. Centrifugal force contributes to this concept of "weight." I'm sure you will find a better way of explaining that still fits your style.
ОтветитьAmazing and so informative
Ответитьgood video thanks
i want to know where did you get engine guard ?
looks very strong
Any chance you could add a Pro Tip on the use of traction control in this situation? On, Off, somewhere in-between?
ОтветитьHere, in my latitudes, we just blast the horn on blind corners. Louder the horn, bigger the vehicle is perceived to be.
ОтветитьI'm new to riding and find it really hard to keep my weight on the outside peg. This video is exactly what I was looking for. It answered all the questions I keep asking myself when I'm riding with great visual demonstration, it's perfect. Thanks.
ОтветитьHi There, is there a website to get these RAM mount Mirrors ? I kinda like them :) cheers from switzerland ...farid
ОтветитьA wonderful channel.. Teaching bike riding skills..I am watching the channel from Jordan..
I find great benefit in education lessons.
I hope to get a suitable bike for me.
I hold a bicycle driving license since 2006
thank you all..
You are really cool.

Some more gravel riding videos like this would be awesome.
ОтветитьMan I bought the vstrom 650 and can't even drive it straight down a dirt road, and I was raised on dirt bikes and dual sports, I've still got the stock tires, but this bike is top heavy and I'm not sure if more aggressive tire will make it better.
ОтветитьSo I understand keeping your weight on the outside of the corner, but initiate the corner by putting a little weight on the inside peg? All the way through? Am I getting this right?
ОтветитьWhat about trail braking through a corner...
ОтветитьThank you so much, the outer lean was really well explained and how to recover from a slide without breaks were so helpful
ОтветитьLoved that intro!
ОтветитьI know you say I’ll crash, but I find I have more stability when I trailbrake, similar to how I would on road, just with less force. 🤷♂️
ОтветитьYou can't imagine how much you have added to my offroad riding skills. Thanks Dusty
ОтветитьNobody talks about one big thing, which is most most important, that is OFFROAD RUBBER,, if you use a tire you meant for tarmac, you are gone, no matter howgood a driver you are!
ОтветитьYou're a God! Who else but a God can rip through fast turns on dirt on a heavy over-sized pig like the BMW GS1200? I mean, every single weekend we come across guys on the trails we ride upstate NY on those things (GS, HD PanAmerican, KTM 890 ADV, Triumph Tiger, etc.) crawling along, dumping them, and struggling to get 'em back upright. Dusgusting! Make a video on why NOT to buy bikes like that - unless you're a God!
ОтветитьYou surely are very confident in conveying the concept by riding on a road with risks or slopes on any side of your path.
Perfect English, medular concepts accurately explained and to the point, leaves no margin for misunderstanding.
Now, let's go practice!!!
Points, taken!!!
Excellent job!!
👌👌😉👆
ОтветитьAmazing videos! Need I say more?!
ОтветитьWhat kind of riding boots are you wearing
ОтветитьWhen does the cornering at speed start?
ОтветитьShould your feet touch flat to be in control when you are on flat surface.
ОтветитьEat lunch at the antler when you get to Young. 😊
Ответитьwhat handguards do you guys recommend? Are there any handguards which could sustain a 240+ kg bike fall?
ОтветитьThanks man, best explaination ever heard so far...
ОтветитьAmericans seem to have a fear of applying brakes on ANY type of corner. Nonsense !
ОтветитьYay! I’m doing it right. Thank you for this video 🎉
ОтветитьHey Dusty, just stumbled across your many excellent videos. Very helpful and informative. Whilst watching you throw the GSA around in this video I wondered if you have found a way to raise the rear brake pedal. I've found that when on the pegs, I'm searching with my foot for the rear brake to engage. Have you managed to lift it somehow?
ОтветитьHave I understood correctly that I should try to shift my body weight to the outside of a gravel corner instead of the inside, as you would on asphalt? Could you explain why one should generally stand up when riding on gravel? I don't understand how that aligns with balancing the weight with the motorcycle, as I feel I have better contact with the motorcycle when I'm sitting down. I'm a beginner on gravel and I don't have the best gravel bike, namely a Suzuki GSR 750
ОтветитьDoes anyone know what the white hand/bar guards are on this bike?
ОтветитьDoes anyone know what the white hand/bar guards are on this bike?
ОтветитьAwesome content. I would add that if the title of the video promises safe fast cornering we cannot ignore that the safe part, on dirt or pavement, requires riding in the us in lane position 3 (Far to the right). This is because there is always another vehicle coming around the corner who you cant see and who has drifted into your lane, often occupying all of position 1 and sometimes position 2
ОтветитьI like sliding, drifting out of the corners because it’s boring just cornering
ОтветитьNice video if We turn right will push right peg ?? İs it True?? Body go left?
ОтветитьFolks asking where is Bret and the channel giving really vague answers. How hard is it to just explain that he has left the channel and moved on to other things? If that's what in fact happened. I greatly enjoyed this clip too, but was totally expecting to see Bret.
