My theory:
Astaroths soul was split into two parts by julius and one part is possessing Lucius and the other part has been reincarnated into Asta but because his mother steals magic and life force away from anything that gets to close to her in the ,womb asta was never exposed to any mana so his body adapted and mutated so that he could survive without any mana him being the reincarnation of part of astaroths soul could also be why the five leaf grimoire chose Asta to be its host( my theory from the information I gathered about the show!)

I think Liebe is his father. Liebe has no magic, anti magic is his forte, with Asta being able to use anti-magic primarily coming from him. But his lack of magic is from both his mother and father. Then his fight with Revchi made it clear he absorbs magic power as physical power, showing why he’s gotten stronger and faster over the series.

The first theory implies Astaroth has a human version of himself which would make little sense unless Astaroth was already half demon somehow. it makes more sense to say Julius is Asta’s father and used Lucius soul magic to have a life with Licita but that’s just a BIG IF theory on my part but my one piece of evidence is actually Asta not knowing about his mom cause think about it if Julius’s lover was Licita then Yami and Nacht would’ve definitely known so if Asta were to tell them that then hypothetically they would say damn Julius is your dad then cause I mean I really don’t know why else would the author do that to Asta unless it has something to do with his father that he doesn’t want to reveal yet cause maybe someone Asta knows also knows his mom
