More like a comedy when viewed retrospectively. Priceless!!
ОтветитьYou just don't want to push the button of Shakespeare's sister
ОтветитьI'm 20 years old and a massive Corrie fan. I respect if people like Corrie less than these times but I still think it's an amazing soap. I absolutely love this scene. Ena and Elsie were and still are the TRUE Queens of Soap
ОтветитьTwo strong feisty women, Ena being the feistiest of the two.
ОтветитьI think they recorded this live. Amazing.
ОтветитьIf they recreated this nowadays between Evelyn and someone, who would Evelyn go up against??
ОтветитьKen Barlow is by far the best character. since his debut.
ОтветитьI’m an American, so I’m seeing these for the first time. What strikes me so much of these early episodes is how they were basically 30 minute plays. I mean, the band playing through after the fight has broken up was just genius.
ОтветитьHow common....
ОтветитьEna Sharples was a star in the early days with her sharp tongue and quick wit .
ОтветитьIs that Ken Barlow or Harrison Ford?
ОтветитьYou avent had your pills😅
ОтветитьQUIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
ОтветитьCAN YOU NOT ARGUE PLEASE?
ОтветитьUuu!
ОтветитьIt’s okay Jim! I’m here now!
ОтветитьEverything’s going to be all right!
ОтветитьCorrie was good up until before covid. After that it is just not good. All the amazing characters are going.
ОтветитьThere is a nice scene about 15 yrs later when Elsie has Ena to stay with her for a few days and they chat and reminisce over the breakfast table......
ОтветитьViolet and Pat - both fantastic actors. Arthur Lowe as Leonard Swindley was so massively popular that he was given his own series playing the same character - Pardon My Expression.
ОтветитьLove the old classic episodes, those northern women were very tough and never failed lose an argument.
ОтветитьIs that captain.mainwearing arthur lowe😅
ОтветитьElsie tanner got more people on elsie tanner side then Ena sharples
ОтветитьCorrie was never better than in the 60s and 70s. The writing and acting were top notch and spot-on. By comparison, it is rubbish now.
ОтветитьThis is the essence of coronation street, it's all a pile of the brown stuff now.
ОтветитьCaptain Mainwaring sorted it out!
Ответитьthrowback to when people actually fought face to face… nowadays 50 year old bats are whipping up aimed facebook statuses for attention and that they are actually scared like fuck to argue in person
ОтветитьFunny seeing the original Nellie Dingle in this ( Sandra Gough). She played Stan and Hilda’s daughter, Irma. Now if Emmerdale had ever had Nellie’s mother in, Jean Alexander ( Hilda) would be perfect!
ОтветитьSadly it's gone down hill fast.
ОтветитьBY GOD; When Ena Sharples and Elsie Tanner went at it; The whole bloody country stopped to watch and listen; It was superb acting by a generation of soap actors who have now gone, and we will never see the likes again; God bless you Violet; God bless you Pat;
ОтветитьI don’t think today’s Corry can top that, flipping magnificent ❤😂
ОтветитьI’ve watched this clip so many times and only just realised the man who talks to Mrs Sharples at the end is Captain Mainwaring from Dads army.
ОтветитьProper Corrie the way scripts should be written in today's shows
ОтветитьCaptain Mainwaring saves the day !!!
ОтветитьWhen the corrie fights were fun and entertaining to watch rather than just depressing and violent like it is now
ОтветитьAnd no “effing” and “blinding” - just sheer creative brilliance with the English language.
ОтветитьCan anyone make out what Ena called Elsie as she swung her handbag at the window? Sounded like she said "You..." something
ОтветитьEveryone addressed each other as Mr & Mrs back in those days, even when they're arguing with each other 😆
ОтветитьI remember as a young kid see a picture of ena and bursting into tears corrie was the best in those days along with world in action a family at war all from the granada stables hardly watch telly these days
Ответитьclassic
ОтветитьAn especially inspired moment, when Albert Tatlock manages to unite the two woman in their shock and disgust, that they might live together...😀...
ОтветитьThose houses look about 8 feet wide. And is that Captain Mainwaring ?
ОтветитьI would have been selling tickets!! All the way to Bessie Street😂❤😂❤
ОтветитьWonder what ena would think of some of the women in the show today 😂
ОтветитьElizabeth James
ОтветитьElsie calls Ena a 'Mary Ann'. Reminds me of my dear old mum who often used that phrase. Brilliant TV.
ОтветитьThose were the days! I've said it before and I'll say it again, Coronation Street started to lose it's way when Mrs Sharples went to keep house for Mr Foster and completely wandered off it's path when Hilda Ogden closed the door of no. 13 behind her for the last time. Now, it's just an overdone parody, with murders and disasters and gloom. Bring back the old days, if possible, and it will return to it's old position at the top of the viewer's charts.
