Abstract: Aptly is a no-code/low-code environment that leverages large language models (LLMs) to let anyone, even young kids, build smartphone apps simply by speaking in natural language. Built on MIT App Inventor, a worldwide platform with over 21 million users, Aptly’s generative AI capability removes barriers of language and coding experience as limiting factors to computational action solutions — creating original apps with meaningful societal impact. In this talk, I will explore how today’s LLMs can be used to build real world mobile apps and discuss how advances in training, modeling, and mobile phone hardware will help synthesize a future where people of all ages even in areas lacking Internet access will be able to create purposeful apps to address issues in their communities all on their mobile device.
