Don’t agree with the assessment of generational games day one… didn’t breath of the wild launch with Wii U?! So it’s the same thing except switch 2 has breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom 😂

The Switch 2 launch was smooth as butter.

I walked into GameStop the day after launch “just to look” and walked out with one lol. I’m loving it. And the GameStop employee had a good sense of humor and said “Don’t worry they hid all the staplers”

Next gen console watch has pretty much been current gen console watch for the past 5 years until now that the switch 2 is out.

I think out of all the game company's Nintendo is the most creative BUT when it comes to switch and now the switch 2 I feel like they cut a lot of corners and banked on the fans knowing Damm well they would buy anything

Unpopular opinion: I wish they had a version with no screen or joycons... only meant to be played on a TV with a pro controller. That's how I always play mine (whenever I have time) I couldn't care less for the battery, screen or kickstand. Never been a fan of handheld gaming. I skipped the WiiU and all the GameBoy and NIntendo DS versions all those years ago because of that. Again... controversial and idiotic opinion to most, I know, but if they offered a cheaper version for home playing alone, I think they'd be able to sell so many consoles without having to rely on display manufacturers that much.

IMO Microsoft is falling into the traps of Sega. I don’t understand their naming conventions. Even if the ROG is a cool piece of tech - it doesn’t have a mass market friendly name. And between the XBox360, One, One X, X | S and ROG - there’s too many illogical naming choices. Reminds me of the sega Genesis/32X/CD/Saturn era.

Glad everyone is saying that stock is easy to get but that has not been my experience. Didn’t get into the Nintendo pre order. Ordered from Walmart. It got backordered and new showed up so I canceled the order. No stock at all from what I am seeing in my area.

I don't understand the BOTW argument. BOTW launched on the Switch and Wii U on the same day, there's no way you could get FOMO from a game that's available on new and last gen systems.

Why is NGCW talking about Switch, even though their opening animation didn't even include Nintendo? It's just Playstation and Xbox?

I love seeing that contained anger that Nintendo generates in the video game press. That frustration of being unable to subject Nintendo to a blackmail situation, and seeing how, after wanting to pour out so much negativity, Nintendo pulverizes all sales records in such a way that it leaves the previous Playstation record in something merely anecdotal.

My Wife and I never brought the Switch 1 because we had already brought the Wii U and Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the Wild was the main draw for us, so we didn’t see a need to upgrade. The Switch 2 got us a chance to play the new Mario Kart, but also opened the door to the Switch 1 games we missed like Super Mario Odyssey and now upgraded Tears of The Kingdom. Missing a generation means we can enjoy the established library and we’ve been genuinely impressed with the Switch 2. Since we didn’t invest in the Switch 1, it seems a fair price to jump in on the Switch 2 for us and it’s working out great. I think the value proposition is different for those coming from investing in the Switch 1, so understand why people seem pissed at the price increase.

Great system but Nintendo screwed us by forcing internet connection and forced download on every single Switch 1 game. So if you collect games you are forced to open all your unsealed copies and put them into Switch 2 and update them just to make them work, otherwise all Switch 1 games are just a piece of plastic that will be useless in the future if the servers go down. Terrible practice and the biggest disappointment on Switch 2:(

Many physical game collectors also don’t appreciate that even if MK World is 80 and includes free future dlc’s, it means a tendency that focuses more on maintaining hype through extra content(which is great too) but this content isn’t fully on physical cartridge!

I'll play my Switch 2 a lot more when Metroid Prime 4 is out. As for now, thoroughly disappointed in Mario Kart World. At this point that franchise is gimmick over gameplay. I just want a fun, standard Mario Kart game. Like the classics, but rendered with the power of Switch 2.

The worst day 1 launch games for Nintendo ever? Are you guys, especially Ryan, on drugs? Mario Kart is bigger than any Zelda game, while the Switch 2 got a host of third party games like Cyberpunk. Switch got joke titles like 1-2 Switch and Arms. Game Cube only got Luigi Mansion as the marquee Nintendo title, while Wii was Wii sports. Give me a break. For the rest of the year there's DK Bonanza and Metroid Prime 4 vs MK8D and Mario Odyssey. The Switch 2 launch period is easily as stellar as the Switch.

Mario Kart World is worth $80. MK8D is now 8 years old so you need to factor that prices were due to rise long ago, the Switch 2 is a new system, MKW has more content than the base MK8D, and Zelda TOTK on Switch was already $70 and so MKW is $10 more than comparable titles (noting that DK Bonanza is $70). Nintendo's error is no other Switch games were $70, so if Metroid Prime 4 were to be released 6 months ago at $70 then that premium price marker is set and the $80 looks quite fair. As it stands, the perception is games went from $60 to $80, which is wrong.

Yes, let's credit Nintendo for delivering on their promise for plenty of supply. Note, they didn't guarantee everyone could get a Switch 2, only that massive supply would stop rampant scalping. Perhaps only in Japan there was a struggle to meet full demand.

The 3DS wasn't struggling. It sold phenomenalally well. What mobile phone gaming did was open up the handheld market for Nintendo to exploit. Not just the market itself, also the technology.

The Wii ranked at the bottom of the poll for best Nintendo system because it was primarily bought by casual players. Those answering your poll are gaming enthusiasts. The Wii simply wasn't popular with them and so they ranked on gaming ethos and nostalgia. I suspect bias towards their nostalgic memories placed the Switch lower than expected. Objectively, we all know the Switch is Nintendo's best system ever. Answering with that is simply boring, sorry. For me, I go SNES, GC, Switch, NES and N64. I boycotted the Wii and WU entirely, so there!

Everyone seems to be confused. But if you imagined switch LL for the name instead of switch 2, its all makes sense. (As its originally supposed to be released few years ago too)
Similar case with Gameboy (whatever advance/ color/ sp still backward compatibility), 3ds still can play nds game.
Naming it "2" made us think it would have a ps2 upgrade jump from ps one, which I think is what most people expected from the new console

MK8 is the 5th best selling game of all time and it just got a sequel. How is this the worst lineup? You guys play too many games that you really don't appreciate it no more.

Switch 2 was the first Nintendo console that I did not pre order, wait in line, or feel like I was missing a whole lot. The morning after launch, I walked into Best Buy and they had lots of consoles including the Mario Kart bundle, I bought one and walked away thinking - wow that was way too easy. In and out Best Buy with a Nintendo switch 2 in 15 minutes after launch!

I’ve grown up playing Nintendo since the 80s, I have waiting in line for hours for consoles like N64, Wii and Wii U and even switch 1. I’m older now as well so this really felt like Nintendo has matured too. So long as Nintendo keeps supplying consoles this way, I’ll continue playing. By the way, my actual name is Mario and I was made in ‘84 one year before the NES and Super Mario Bros made their footprint in the world. It was only natural that Nintendo would forever be a big part of my world. Thanks Nintendo for all the great memories.

The fact it plays Switch games handheld in stretched out 720p, and just has worse battery life, means I will never buy one. It is time to move to a handheld PC and it'll probably be the Xbox Ally X.
