If you show up to Drag Race without sewing skills you must not be very committed to winning. Good grief, it's not rocket science. A good new machine is $200 +/- and a lot of times they come with basic machine skills lessons. I taught myself on an ancient treadle Singer with zero guidance at 12 yrs old. Mom wouldn't let me touch her machine until I'd had sewing in Home Ec. I was designing almost everything I wore by high school. I was tiny and if I wanted clothes that fit and weren't from the girl's department I had to make them myself.
