With 16 studio albums, 40 years of being a band and Dave Mustaines history with Metallica, there was SO MUCH I could have covered in this documentary. It would have been impossible to fit everything into 40 minutes so I hope you all enjoy the early life of Mustaine and Megadeth that I decided to focus on!

I love Metallica but holy lord I didn’t know the lore as I’m a casual fan.

It is really sad that children take so much after their parents, specially their bad habits. But at the same time I think, would Megadeth even have existed if Mustaine neve rlived a crazy rockstar drug addict life style? i dont think so.

Metallica has had writers block since the black album which was pretty much a commercialized, down tempo, minimal Justice b-side. Megadeth has some great post speed thrash era albums but I haven’t seen them live since they fired Marty over money. If they tour with Chris Poland I will buy a ticket.

Only the Cliff Burton (RIP) era of Metallica is real... Also the Dave McGovney demos also, pre Cliff B.

His importance is not much on the fact that he is a great player, as it resides on how much of a great composer he is. He shaped metal into what has become today. He set the basis and the blueprint for it.

Dave is the best guitarist in history! I met him 2 months ago during the "destroy all enemies tour" here in Austin, TX. He's the nicest guy ever & even thanked me for my service as a U.S. Army Veteran. I just bought an Epiphone Flying V Prophecy (Mustaine version) He said he'd sign it the next time I see him and I can't wait. MEGADETH FOREVER!!!

Megadeth is not allowed in the rock and roll hall of fame because they are not rock and roll, they are metal. Metallica was allowed in as they turned in to a popular rock and roll band. Mustaine is a legend staying true to his metal roots. His guitar sound & riffs shows his true talent. Face it, he invented a band that is not full of sellouts.

"Lars isn't a good drummer". Yeah it's not like Metallica is famous or anything. Lars just got lucky nobody noticed yet.

Mustaine is the icon of hope, self medicating and perseverance through Hell. His becoming clean is a mantra for most. He experienced pain, recovery and joy.
I love Dave. I've been 9 months sober for his plight.

Dave is a music legend! To bad that the Megadeth with Menza, Friedman, Ellefson didn't stay as a band. They would be better and bigger than metallica could be! Rust in peace is imo the best metal record ever made!

Bottom line is Mustaine and Megadeth will always be #2 to Metallica. Megadeth is a great band BUT Metallica will always be bigger than Megadeth. The ball has bounced, the cookie had crumbled and the milk had been spilled.

I know music is "subjective" in preference. However "objectivly" Megadeth is the more skilled band. Megadeth, Exodus, Coroner, Testament really put technical thrash on the map imho. Metallica is that starter metal that teaches beginner musicians catchy good repeatable songs. Megadeth is that band that pushes your technique and skills. I started with Hetfield riffs, progressed to Kirk Solos, Dave Rhythms can be harder than A LOT of kirk solos, moved on to playing SOME dave solos, Could never nail a Chris Poland or Marty Friendman solo to any level of satisfaction. The drummers arent even in the same genre I swear. Dave ellifson is every bit a great bassist as Cliff burton. James is the better singer hands down. Daves voice fits the anger of the music. Thats my subjective objective opinion statement. If you need any proof. Compare Master of Puppets to Rust in Peace albums. Both are exceptional albums. One is just much more intense, beautiful, and insanely technical. Poison was the cure verse riff is just on another level. The outro solos give goosebumps. Its just insanity.

I booed metallica in 93 at a Sydney concert when they did a fucking instrumental compilation. the crowd was pissed. 89 damage justice was awesome though after that they went down hill for me. megadeth rust in peace tour Sydney 1990. was awesome . best concert I've seen.
