I was told by the bartenders they love coins as long as before you go you buy it back at the end of your trip for big crisp Canadian bills. They understand how expensive it is to buy American dollars for Canadians . Just my experience. down fall is you bring home a bunch of coin. But saves on exchange. cheers

We're coming down on the 19th and our booking agent recommended the Sol Caribe over the Barcelo Solymar... . she said just due to the decor /age/and maybe food quality= thoughts?

Not only we feel safe but nobody pushes us to buy time shares or comes to the beach to sell us stuff aggressively.

If you don't have After Bite or 3 year old rum....use hand sanitizer. I works just like After Bite. It's the alcohol that does the job. I have tons of hand sanitizer left after the youknowwhat, so I use it and I take lots down to Cuba to share with my fellow travellers who are getting eaten alive. It provides instant relief.

I would concur about security... Initially it looks a bit wild if you're from Europe. Actually once you get out and about you find people are very relaxed and respectful. There are always hustlers but Tbh it's very different to Jamaica and other places in the Caribbean. It's rather strange as its almost impossible to not feel at home and safe amongst Cuban people in most situations. Yes it's the carribbean but feels like European sensibilities are everywhere,especially in Havana. The classical Spanish influences are everywhere and it feels a million miles away from America despite its proximity to Florida. Us British generally cheer for the underdog and given the history I felt myself naturally empathetic to the Cuban people and Tbh it's hard not to. Given how life in Britain and the west generally is going circles around the the drain I think Cuba may end up having the last laugh. 😊

What is the resort with the best buffet in Cuba? We are picky as in fresh fruit, veggies, good quality fresh... not so much about meat and pastries. Thx
