speaking as a member of the lgbt community this scene always makes me laugh. and what Nick says at the beginning of the scene is so true. there is so much pressure on a person to come out, the fear, anxiety, worry. it isn't right that we should feel all that just because we are LGBT. yet No one really understands what it's like, or what it puts a person through. Especially in telling your parent's as you fear what they are going to say, and react. As believe me the bulk of us do not have as cool and accepting parent's as Simon does in the movie. My own experience with my parent's was a nightmare. However in time we did work through it which sadly their are those who don't. And that is why this scene is so special to anyone who is in those shoes.

This is going to happen in the future so we need straight pride parades. Now!

A few years ago I told my parents that I am Straight where I love sexy girls and my parents are very happy and proud of me for who I am. Plus for me as a Straight man. This is who I am and I love myself. Me as a Straight man is awesome.
