Building a Podium Wheel - Fanatec Podium Hub, Advanced Paddle Module and Button Module Endurance

nice ! I just got into sim racing and have invested heavily in a rig along with a fanatec dd1. I do have the mclaren v2 rim and the podium r300 the D shaped one lately I've found myself in your same situation where I want to get even more out of my set up but don't know where to start especially with aftermarket rims .

Top tip - If you're running the APMs with the GT shifter paddles (as you are here), the clutch paddles are easier to reach and use if you swap them over and put them on the underside of the paddle stalk. They can be a little tricky to reach as they come out of the box.

How does the FFB feel compared to the McLaren wheel on a CSL DD? It's heavier, metal/carbon construction so on one hand it should mute some effects but the build quality/sturdiness should bring some of those effects back compared to MCL wheel. Can You share your thoughts and experience so far?

Can't wait to hear what you think about that Turn rim on the BME. I'm running a BME with that 320 rim now but might replace my McLaren rim with a hub, BME, APM, and the Turn rim.

I considering what to buy for CSL DD "McLaren GT3 V2" plus "ClubSport Steering Wheel Drift V2" or just "Podium Steering Wheel Fanatec GT World Challenge"? I play ACC and AC drift. Both options at a similar price.

I have a question though: How durable does the light grey strip at the top feel? I once had a Thrustmaster Leather 28 wheel, and the yellow band at the top started peeling off after about a year. Does it feel like that may happen? (My primary use will be drifting, so it slides through my hands a lot)

I'm planning on getting the endurance box for Mpi round gt wheel that I have. Along with possibly doing a turn r320 fanatec build. That I will use on my csl dd.

I just received a Podium Hub that I bought second hand, can someone that owns one confirm that one of the 13 gold colored connector pins on the hub side is supposed to be 20% shorter than the other 12 pins? That pin is near the bottom right. Thanks!

Which open top GT3 wheel ended up working best here? I saw Cube Controls announced in 2021 a perforated leather GT Zero rim (open top) that they posted a nice completed photo of but they never sold it. Turn Racing still makes a similar rubber based R320 rim. I'm thinking of building one with a 3rd party button box and podium hub. The button box itself is minimum $400 USD with shifter paddles from a few manufacturers, and then after adding the wheel it is in the $600 USD range. I may also just add magnetic shifters to the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel for $100 USD, since I like the overall shape, size and feel minus the shifter feel, which is a bit clunky and not very positive and sometimes does not react quick enough after performing many shifts in a row, where usually one out of four will have a small delay (missed shift). The later I believe is normal even for a brand new one as I have two.

Loved mine except for the quick release!adapter. The spring in it is too soft so when the base vibrates over bumps the spring gets real loud. I switched it out with my formula v2 wheel's adapter and it is so much quieter. No more clattering!!!

How much does the podium did it all weigh together , wheel, button box and hub ? Did you find the dd strong enough to handle weight ?

hey! can u help me? i have this wheel set, but in iracing works only with legacy options: show the gear and speed data. when i pushed the tuning menu button and rotate this small button, i see blank informaitons only. its not synced

I got the porsche wheel with the podium button module over a year ago, and only just got round to getting a drift wheel, but I figured I already have the universal hub I can reuse, and got the podium hub to put the podium button module on with the porsche rim, will also reuse the paddles on the porsche rim since they compatible, and since don't need them for the drift wheel, they just get in the way when drifting, but the extra buttons on the universal hub will be useful when in vr. already made indicators and lights ect from second hand car column, took forever to get working though.
