Really excellent interview and reporting. As a Birmingham resident (and someone who works with populations like those you discuss here), it really is striking how much of a divide between rich and poor there is in our city, and it's interesting to hear how that's reflected in heroin/nitazene use. Ive tried to inform some of the local users about fentanyl and nitazines but hardly any of them have heard of them. I know about them from jail but thats over 8 years ago and I always wondered why so little know on the streets? NCA keeping it under wraps now I know thank you.

I think you should do an additional report to this on the prevalance of kids vaping what they think is THC and over time investigate the synthetics market because the face of drug use has took a monumental very very dangerous turn .

I live in Birmingham and walk to through the city centre from the outskirts every single day I see people shooting up and personally have found 2 people unconscious and another unfortunately dead. It’s a genuinely horrific situation atm and the increase in needles on the streets has been clearly noticeable over the last few years. Thank you so much for highlighting this issue.

There is a Benzo antidote that could be rolled out next to Naloxone. Indeed Benzos are currently a bigger issue.

Project Adder was a govt funded project recently ended targetting the areas of the UK which has the highest drug related deaths mainly due to to crack use and synthetic opioids which have become more prevelant since the USA pressured the Taliban to destroy opium farming. Here on the south coast of england it is a big problem and naxloxone is becoming more available to try reverse overdosing caused by synthetic opioids. I wouldn't say it mainly happens to the homeless or people living in HMO's - it happens to anyone who has drug addiciton which can be people in their own flats and owner occupiers.
