most common cause of stick drift

You showed the problem but not the solution which I was excited to see how to fix this problem. Im wondering I have a controller with a jammed “LB” and have no idea how to fix it if you could do a tutorial on that. Thanks for the tips and tricks they are great to know!

Is the elite two different in the inside? And any tips to fix controller drift

My Dualsense controller does this. Had to plug the usb-c cable in and out a couple of times and it became normal again.

Did…toss it and bought a new one. That seems too complicated. I also take it more easy for now on. I mean….pulling it aggressively is not going to make my character move faster.

Other reason for stick drift :
The Spring inside the censor thingy that is supposed to get the joystick back to the center but if you Press the joystick down as a button way too many times it could result the spring to become loose and when the spring is loose it meams that it wint be Perfectly center

And actually some companies try to get the feeling of stick drift out by putting a Un-skippabble dead zone setting in the motherboard

My new Xbox series controller has it

Ive had an xbox series controller for over a year now and havent had a single issue with drift. Ive had more ps4 controllers drift than anything

That lawsuit not going anywhere. Moveable parts always break in time. Analog stick been like that for ages

i got xone gamepad and left analog goes to right (very slightly) until i center it with thumb (this thing is very precise... movement goes from -255 to 256 so theres 512 spots in each direction, i got my analog 3spots to the right, because of this i need deadzone at least 7/100 which pros consider as very bad...

Mostly is cause because some owners get really upset and handle the peripherals hard and some times flyover the room!! That is what causes the drift . I have Nintendo switch original controller never have a drift and have more the 1000hrs the play in 5year I play BOTW. Ps4 have for 7 years I just started to have a little drift once while!! PS5 no drifting. The controllers all a well made but if you don’t take care how do you want to last !! And always keep clean hands when you play !!!

So how do I fix it

All consoles have drift. And all manufacturers have lawsuits against them. PC with keyboard and mouse is the only way to play.

As a a person who’s played on PlayStation my whole life the only console I haven’t gotten stuck drift with it my Xbox one controller.

I have worked on quite a few Xbox one controllers and they are pieces of junk don’t ever buy a elite controller or the regular ones because that’s what they want you to do they intentionally made them cheap so they will break fast so they can manipulate you into buying a new one just buy a third party controller that is compatible with Xbox one it’s cheaper and they last longer

Hey Nick, my stick drift isn't in just the potentiometers, it's in the actual rubber bands, they're loose too, is thwre any fix for that?

Wtf that little thing that prob cause like $10 for like 10 of them caused me to but multiple controllers cause it got so bad

I one absolutely destroyed an Xbox controller because all of the d pad and triggers stopped working and I took it to be repaired and it would cost as much as a new one so I destroyed it and it didn’t have stick drift at all

So if I remove do I just leave it like that? Or do I have to add a new potentiometer

this drift issue won't be fixed PERIOD until companies start using hall effect sensors instead of pontentiometers. these pots have a limited lifespan and then stop acting correctly.

I've had drift on every type of controller, it's nothing new

do you mean against sony? i have replaced those parts on a sony controller way more then xbox. not once have i found stick drift on my xbox.

Tell me about it I’m on my 2nd Elite Series 2 controller and it already has stick drift again smh also found out that the Input latency and polling rate is really bad on the Xbox controllers compared to DualShock, Relfex, 8bitdo, so keep that in mind when you purchase your next controller. Ill show you the test below

Series SX controller. 7.83ms
DualSence controller. 3.85ms
8bitdo controller. 3.75ms
Scuff Reflex controller. 3.73ms

My xbox one wireless controller x button been stuck and I guess I made it worst by trying to spam me to get fix cuz now it gets more stuck

They did face a lawsuit for this but was settled out of court. The new controllers still have this issue so I think it's time for Microsoft to face another lawsuit...no settlements, time to take them to trial!

This happened to my Grey/blue wireless controller. My left joystick is drifting up or down.
