No joke, as I'm mixing up BROWNIES this popped up as my next vid 😂😂 listened all the way through tho!! Loved it
ОтветитьCommon sense! Love this! I get so sick of low fat, low carb, raw food, paleo, high protein, intermittent fasting....blah, blah blah... dumb fads! This just makes sense. Limit processed foods (okay - I like the occasional chips/crisps and red wine and chocolate) and focus on whole foods and complex carbs. My weight usually manages itself since I stopped worrying about it and follow these principles. Love it!!!
ОтветитьCheat days make the most sense based on your days of highest and lowest activity, versus a set day of the week. For example, I wouldn’t eat a ton of fried food the night before a long run/hike. Instead I “cheat” in the hours immediately after my endurance event or long run/hike.
ОтветитьThis made me feel good knowing I now have 2 beers every saturday night even though I'm halfway into marathon training.
ОтветитьThe first thing I see is GMO oats...thats not hi Q...Organic whether good or bad or whatever is key. You'll pay in the 'long run' (no pun intended) Its BS that chemicals do not affect the body. Maybe not in short term, but we will hopefully have a long life, and the build up will get to us eventually.
ОтветитьNope, after 10 mins too much bs. Its not just short term for endurance I eat for a long life
ОтветитьMRI's don't lie. You can be an elite athlete and still be unhealthy on the inside. There are many exceptions to this ridiculous core habit claim. Everybody has to find out what works for them.
ОтветитьGood video and I will probably get the book. However, there are more and more credible people talking about the dangers of alcohol. Alcohol is really ethanol, a poison, and should not be consumed at any level. I have been saying alcohol is poison for decades. It’s nice to see others are starting to catch up.
ОтветитьIngebrigtsen family diet, seen in television series (over 7-8 years): Always breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening meal. Always eating before harder training. Water. Regular bread ( probably every day). Pasta. Pizza. Ready made cheap pizza for making in oven (often). Tacos. Burritos. Eggs. Hamburger. McDonalds. Bananas ( probably everyday) Applejuice. Coffee (everyday). Energy drink (Jakob , Red Bull.) No alcohol (except parents). No candy or chocolate. Chicken, ham or pepperoni on pizza. Sliced ham and salami on bread. Sportsdrink. Dont see much whole grain, oatmeal, nuts. Not much other fruit than banana. They are often seen eating Grandiosa (cheap Norwegian brand of ready made pizza for heating in oven). They eat rice and chicken. Bacon. Pancake. Gjert has mentioned "you can't train treshold on empty not eating breakfast" and he refers to getting faster carbohydrates like in bread or banana. They eat processed meats probably pretty often because of pizza, tacos, etc. They dont seem too obssess about food. But Gjert don't like them eating McDonalds or drinking Coca Cola, but homemade burgers are referred to in positive words. They eat regular Norwegian food, maybe trending towards "unhealthy" junk food for dinner, like pizza. They probably eat for fueling (high carbohydrate). Dont see protein powder or obsessive about protein.
ОтветитьBeer, coffee, sex and get plenty of sleep and you’re good.
ОтветитьNot sure how I landed in this video as I don't even run, but it's all very good and well put advice of core concepts that I've had to apply for eating disorder recovery. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьI've got to number three and I've had enough it's the same old thing. Basic stuff plus a little bit of bullshit like don't forget your whole grains and Chia seeds. I don't know how Beryl Burton became probably the best endurance cyclist of all time living on Yorkshire puddings, white bread, fresh veg, cakes biscuits and licorice sorts. Well actually I do. it's called having a carb heavy reasonably well balanced diet low in saturated fat. Same as endurance athletes since at least Herb Elliott time and the rest of us should be eating
ОтветитьReal hiking uses 400-500 calories per hour. Real running (or cycling) has greater requirements.
Many people have learned to consume that amount of calories during an event. Mostly carbs. Saving difficult to digest fats and proteins for the end of the day.
Research is great. Gives us some data to understand and investigate things further. Human outcome models are the greatest. What are the greatest athletes of all-time eating? What are the people living high quality lives past 100 eating? Human outcome data is easily just as important than the research
ОтветитьHe also asked the Kenyans if they cut PEDs out of their diet and they all laughed in his face
Ответитьthis was the most helpful video I have watched on this subject. It just seemed to make since. Thanks for staying on subject and making it easy to understand. I am just beginning my running journey so I think all of this is going to be very helpful to make things easier on me, on my way to my first big run. Thanks!
ОтветитьSelf torture diet.
ОтветитьI always get irked when nutritionists never address a female's nutritional needs depending on what phase of her cycle she's in. That women are an afterthought when men discuss things drives me crazy. The effect of the hormonal shifts affects a woman's ability to store glucose or use fat reserves, her body temp and ability to access hydration stored in the body. Do better please.
ОтветитьMatt Fitzgerald knows his stuff, by my god his books are bloated (no pun….). Every one of his books are half-killer/half-filler. He probably feels the need to have a minimum number of pages to provide the perception of value, but if he kept his content succinct he would convey a much better and more memorable message. I often know I’m getting good information, but by the end of his books I’m frustrated and find it tough to recall the good stuff.
ОтветитьAfter seeing this video I bought this book. Just finished the first chapter (the first habit). It is written very well, and the information is very interesting. What I appreciate a lot about is the bottom-up method of the writer: he does not look at what science says (top) to translate this into a diet (down). Instead, he looks at what elite endurance sportpeople do (bottom), and creates strategies and habits from the practice (up). This creates a praxis which is sustainable for the human condition.
If you are interested in nutrition, I definitely recommend this book.
Top endurance runner eats nachos and beer
ОтветитьI drink only water and chaga tea,no soda,no juices,no syrups just clean H20
W minerals of course.
Obviously if you are an athlete and burn so many calories you can eat everything!!!
ОтветитьTHANK YOU! This is the best video about eating habits for athletes I’ve seen. I’m from Colombia and know that the best cyclists just eat EVERYTHING… so it is encouraging to see this
ОтветитьIfound the same thing to be true. I only manage to eat little processed food, if I allow it on one day of the week. Plus I have myself eat all of the good foodgroups as well on that cheatday, so there is not much appetite left for the cheatstuff.
ОтветитьLow quality food tastes good for sure, but it makes me physically feel like
Shit and negatively effects my training.
I prefer to “cheat meal” on a rest day.
Eat like shit = feel, look, train & sleep like shit
Reis and Co. isn't high quality carb.
ОтветитьSimply, when you burn as much calories as endurance athletes do one can eat anything!
ОтветитьNO SUGAR, and you'll be fine.
ОтветитьEating a coffee cup full of frozen blueberries while watching this
ОтветитьYou are both underweight, elite athletes and aren't jogging off those extra pounds.
Most of us do ''eat everything'' that's the problem. And picking a cheat day is meaningless, it all seems like punishment. (by ''everything'' do you mean carrots AND celery?)
We've sworn off alcohol, and sugar and most foods that taste good. We've sacrificed a room or the corner of a room for the exercise equipment and the treadmill. We've said goodbye to eating in restaurants.
I spent 6 months jogging 2hrs a day 3-5 days a week, and I gained 10 lbs. Know how? I ATE EVERYTHING. Yep. I gained weight, I saw the scale going up up up, and with YOUR advice I just said to myself: "Well they've told me to eat everything, the scale has to start downward at some point.''
Don't kid yourselves folks, its calorie deficit, and hard work to get in shape, and as for ''eating everything.'' I wouldn't if I were you. NOT unless you are ALREADY fit.
*oh and my feet hurt, my toes tingle, I'm half a pound away from diabetes at this point.
So NO, do NOT ''eat everything.''
What a bunch of happy horse sh*t.
For me having a cheat day a week is a bit like telling an alcoholic it is ok to have drinks on fridays just not the rest of week. Junk food has very clever technologists designing the right amount of excessive fat, sugar and salt to make us crave it. Works on me every time 🤣.
Im happier eating clean foods, processed only by me 😊.
Thanks for the great video.
ОтветитьWow…subway cookies??? Disgusting. Soybean oil and sugar. Im sorry. Can’t do it
ОтветитьWhite is better than Brown when it comes to rice... look it up.
ОтветитьI went from 120kg to 85 in a year by running daily and eating whatever the hell i feel like eating, and now i am not lean and am wobbly in upper body but those halfmarathons feel like a joke, always better for me to have some extra than less for a long run i dont have to eat like some kinny guys i can just put shoes and go for a halfmarathon when i feel like it and dont feel any starvation or exhaustion from lack of energy cuz body has something to take. Buts thats me, you do you.
ОтветитьThe moment wine was mentioned the smile that came out .
ОтветитьIm not an athlete but i spend 7 hours per day running up and down a ladder. Just occured to me i should probably start eating like an athlete
ОтветитьWhen it comes to food and eating, too much structure, planning, and regiment can result in body dysmorphia, and, in extreme cases, cause an eating disorder, especially for women.
Ответить1.5 year on my diet and I have not eaten any low quality food. Not once. Lost 70lbs and kept it off. Plenty of good quality food I enjoy
ОтветитьI like to to on a 2 day bender right before race day
ОтветитьWhy would you put a VIDEO on FACEBOOK when you've uploaded THIS video to the VIDEO PLATFORM?
That's super annoying
Because I come to the VIDEO PLATFORM for VIDEOS and I go to FACEBOOK for... literally nothing because its only a platform for old people and political activists.
Soooooo glad I've found your channel!
ОтветитьPotato, beans, zucchini, sprouts, spaghetti squash, whole barley porridge, blueberry, apple.
I want to add 1 egg per day for choline for brain health. When is best for digestion order?
Where can I get the book from?!
Ответить8
ОтветитьThis is an awesome video! I'm putting this book at the top of my reading list 📘
ОтветитьNow i understand why im feeling weak. I run almost everyday and also eat less for weight loss. Now im gonna eat more
