Does a metal cutting jigsaw blade work better than a plexiglass cutting blade?
ОтветитьThanks a lot. Excellent guide.
ОтветитьThanks so much! Fantastic!
Ответитьany advise on how to cut a square hole on my acrylic pc case without any electrical tools? im thinking, heating a plastic cutter and cut the acrylic with only hand power, reheat and repeat, will it work?
ОтветитьGreat video! I don't need a laser cutter after all :-)
ОтветитьCan we just take a second to appreciate the $9000 worth of plex that was used/wasted to produce this video. Sheesh....I wish I had that much 💰 to 🔥!
ОтветитьHi, What would you recommend to fix a stainless steel bracket to an acrylic sheet? I was thinking of using gold-label pond silicon. I do not want to use screws due to the effect on the artwork's look. Thank you.
ОтветитьBlade for metal and set the machine to a slow speed. Is that all?
I'll try your tips.
Thanks.
I just had to cut some 5mm Optix brand acrylic. Used a jigsaw with a fine tooth metal blade. I had some issues with it melting but just kept compressed air blowing on the cut as I cut and slowed down even more and it worked for me. Thanks for showing me how to cut it
ОтветитьI'm wondering how to trim off about a MM from a 30inch perspex filter panel that diffuses light in my led tv set. The edge lit led have melted the edge a little and it causes a bit of light bleed scattering because the surface is slightly melted where the led got hot. Would a fine sandpaper bring back the clear glassy edge so light beams nice and smooth? I can't just spin it 180 degrees since its design is 1 way light diffuser.
ОтветитьI'm at a loss to find best vendor on black no see through and other colors as such. If anyone has any ideas plz let me know. Eighth in thickness and full sheets are my desire for what I'm doing.
ОтветитьJust showing the scroll saw cutting is not enough. Can you explain the blade needed and why. What were you using in this video while using the scroll saw?
ОтветитьThank you for showing precision cutting n your control.
ОтветитьSimply brilliant video. To the point and full of really helpful tips
Ответитьvery informational, thank so much.
ОтветитьWent through three big ass pieces cutting with a wood jigsaw blade before I looked up this video I wish I looks this uo before
ОтветитьI thought I could use a router...fail. Melted instead of cut.
ОтветитьThanks for every information on how to cut arcrylic... I got so many lesson from it...
Ответитьwhat about a sheet of 1/8" thick acryllic 24" xn 28" but I wanto shave off ~6mm. Sory for mixed Imperial and metric use.. best jisaw blade type? and its flecxy so I need a carboard base on a table to support?
ОтветитьWet tile saw .
ОтветитьTop notch video - thanks
ОтветитьCan you clamp several pieces together and pack cut with a circular saw?
ОтветитьIs there a way to do circles without cutting squares then sanding to shape?
ОтветитьPerfect, thanks for the info
ОтветитьWhat blade you use for that sae? I have electric saw too
ОтветитьDamn, I should've looked this up before cutting my 6mm sheet.
Long story short, I had to rely on heating up the area of the cut and scoring with a knife several times.
(It didn't end very well)
Very useful information, thankyou!
ОтветитьWhat about flipping the circular saw blade? 32 tooth. Otherwise, I think I'll go with the jig saw. I'm not too keen on table saws - not enough control.
ОтветитьThank you. Most helpful.
ОтветитьI cut mine using a specialty acrylic jigsaw blade and it cracked. So I purchased a Bosch metal jigsaw blade and it was fine until it got to the end, when the corner broke off. The jigsaw itself is a cheap brand (Harbor Freight), but should that matter if I’m using high quality, brand new blades? I’m really frustrated with this….thanks for any advice!
ОтветитьThank you for the demo. Cheers
Ответитьwhat blade is being used on the Jigsaw?
ОтветитьGood video! For cutting cirles with a jigsaw in a 3mm sheet i just use double sided tape and stick it to a thin sheet of multiplex/plywood, it doesn't crack or chip as well.
ОтветитьWhat was the type of blade you used with the saw all
ОтветитьThe only way
ОтветитьWhat’s the best way to glue sheets of this together ? Btw good video.
ОтветитьWouldn't have believed it would weld back so consistently and firmly unless I had seen it.
ОтветитьInformative and helpful
ОтветитьThanks for the upload, much appreciated, clear and concise.
ОтветитьCan we use for driver protection?
ОтветитьThe speed and amount of cutting teeth are key. As you get thicker ideally you want a blade with less teeth and run slower. Proper chip removal is key to keep from welding itself. Thin material you do need more teeth though but still slower speeds. Our shop specializes in machining all types of engineered plastics. We’ve been doing it for nearly 50 years now. You learn loads of tricks over the years. There are many different types of plastic and some can be quite a challenge to get good finishes on. UHMW for example. The fewer the cutting edges the better. There’s a guy with a video telling you to cut with an angle grinder and a metal cutting disc. YIKES that is so wrong! All of your methods are good however 👍🏼👍🏼
ОтветитьThanks! You answered all my questions and helped me identify the mistakes I've made.
ОтветитьThe advantage of the scroll saw over the laser is that you wont be surrounded by fumes/smoke
Ответитьwould like to see how well an oscillating blade on a multi-tool works. Also how about just melting the cut? Take a soldering iron to it or something.
Ответитьdo you use flame polish at all? are there any pro's or con's on flame polish?
ОтветитьIt's late 2024 and this is still the best video online about cutting acrylic! Thank you!! Real examples of approaches and results with enough video of the process to show ideal blade speed and pacing.... excellent!!
ОтветитьThank you so much for this tutorial, it has given me a clear view of how to cut a piece of acrylic I’ve been wanting so much to work with for a project. I was afraid to ruin it because my husband tried and it was a disaster. Now I know how and what to do thanks to you sir. I just love and appreciate your video!👍🏼👏🏼❤
ОтветитьGreat video thanks. Some very good points made.
