Philippines is a smaller (and untested) market compared to big countries like China.
Though Trese is a good start.
A lot of these Filipino animators probably grew up with Marvel and the likes. What they may dream about is working on such institutions, and not necessarily creating Filipino themed cartoon. It's not that they grew up with a lot of Filipino cartoons to look up to.
Though me personally, I'd like to see Pugad Baboy in animated form.
I appreciate y’all take on this on Filipino animators. It did bug me on why the Philippines produce very little animations of Filipinos when big animation studios export their shows and labor to the PI.
I wonder what would the animation industry would be like if lead by Filipinos.
(Also your bg music is hella loud.)
Would be nice if GMA or ABS CBN (big media empires in the Philippines) hire these animators for them to produce good shows with quality animations.
ОтветитьLars from Steven Universe is half Filipino~
Ответитьas an international student from the philippines studying in california to become an animator, this encouraged me to continue working hard so i can one day make philippine culture more prominent in mainstream animation :–) thank you for making this inspiring video!
i hope we can make the animation industry in the philippines flourish as well!
SAPPHIRE!!! 💙
Ответитьwestern and big countries both have high disposable incomes while filipinos will be less likely buy merch and stuff from artists, this goes similar to our musicians that is why they try to appeal to a wide audience with sprinkle of culture from ours
ОтветитьCan we just notice the fact that this YT channel's videos are well produced and well researched? 🙌 Never seen a Filipino informative channel like this which actually targets non-filipinos.
ОтветитьAnimation is my favourite and I love a funny cartoons and Anime and I'm half Filipino and half Irish .😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
ОтветитьGood video, this is what I wanted to hear.
The first half of the video feels as though you're advocating for Filipinos to engage in mass consumerism of these western animation companies in exchange for Filipino recognition. Although it is not a wrong answer, I prefer to have a competing industry that is catered by Filipinos and for the Filipinos, we should let the rest of the world catch up to OUR culture instead of the other way around. The second half is exactly the sentiment I was hoping to hear, we can't just rely on external stakeholders sometimes you just have to do it yourself, a fitting showcase of Filipino resilience.
Raya?
ОтветитьThis is a very wellmade video idk why it still hasnt reach atleast 100k views
ОтветитьNICE
ОтветитьGaga may sariling cartoon ung abs cbn ung Rpg metanoia 😕
ОтветитьJust so you know, Janna Ordinario from Star vs The Forces of Evil is filipino.
ОтветитьRPG Metanoia is one of those hidden gems of animated films here in the Philippines. Even though the graphics didn't age that well, the story still holds up till this day. As a Filipino animation student here in the Philippines, I'm glad that I'm seeing a great start to our animated films being slowly recognized by the world. Hayop Ka, Trese and even some shows that are in the works like Kamagong and Sepaktaraw. I'm excited on what's in store for us, Filipino animators, in the near future and hopefully someday, we'll be able to show our culture to the big stage. :)
ОтветитьIn the episode after school snack down From Craig of the Creek explicilty said she's from Filipino descent
ОтветитьMagkaroon sana parang anime hahah
ОтветитьIf abs cbn or gma creates an animation studio.... I will name it "Mayon Animation Studios".
ОтветитьLam ang and ibong adarna deserves an animated series.
Ответитьhoping to help make one of those animations one day hehe
ОтветитьBtw many Filipinos have worked on animes in Japan like One piece
ОтветитьThank you for this documentary, it's so interesting.❤️
ОтветитьHayop ka!: am I a joke to you?
ОтветитьShort Answer.
Animation only has a few consumer among pilipinos.
Because pilipinos are ignorant and always associate animation as a kids show.
It also struggle as a kid show because most parent are strict that we don't even have an hour to watch animation or Tv animation's timeslot doesn't go well with most animation consumer because most of the people here are at school or work early in the morning. Night shows mostly consist of illogical action stories(that pilipino says realistic) and d drama's that mostly consist of pangamgaliwa (cheating).
Pilipino love those.
The bad thing is most nightshow wasnt even written that well.they just made them as long as there is viewers.
Ending doesnt exist unless its gonna get drop or something.
For pilipinos. As long as it's live action. It's realistic.
Why? Because we are only workers so that's what we will always be, a worker for somone else instead of innovating our own. If we really want to be recognized globally we need entrapreneurs and innovators.
Ответитьdon't give me that modernist language boy
I want a kickass adaptation of Panday inspired by Fist of the Northstar, and has a unique artstyle and doesn't feel like another netflix show.
For me, Philippines is not that popular to most countries so the said country is not depicted.
ОтветитьHoping one day for Mars Ravelo creations become animated like DC/Marvel styles and not just live action
Ответитьdiscrimination is the shortest answer
ОтветитьI strongly believe that being geographically proximate to Japan instantly warrants competition in multiple industries, animation included.
ОтветитьOther Animators skill proficiency in Philippines was decreased due to people’s negative criticism for no reason. There are bad animators on TV.
ОтветитьThe funny part is not only are Filipino Americans populous stateside in the industry, many American studios also contract with Filipino animators back home to do the actual animating. With this amount of talent, we could easily have our own animation industry- we would just need the powers-that-be to provide the financial backing.
ОтветитьI love that this s an answer to a very long question to a lot of people I encounter saying they don't think filipino become successful animators and just ended up being Tshirt printers and ads what not 🚫 great thumbs up 👍
ОтветитьI would love to see a resource page with Filipino animators with their links so if someone would like to hire they could find them easier! I wouldn't mind entertaining to host something like this if anyone has a more than 10 quality animators?
ОтветитьLooks like this creator has fallen into the muh representation trap of victim hood just like the black community in USA. They successfully moved not only the USA from equality, but to equity which oppresses everyone. Stop looking for someone to include you into their little club, start your own. Its fine to like & support other people’s music, books, movies, & culture but not for you to wait until they put you in their productions then complain if they misrepresent you. That’s tokenism. Create your own IPs for your fans. Who can represent you better than you? Huh?! No one can. So do it now, invest in yourself, create your own empire. Crowd fund if necessary. Look at Jollibee, Red Ribbon, & Goldilocks. If you build it they (The World) will come & see, love & buy. Stop hoping Hollywood will come knocking. Be Big bigger & better than Hollywood be you. I saw Trese and loved it both the manga and the anime. Now go do you. All talented Filipinos unite & create! Not under one umbrella ,…but create multiple umbrellas blanket and saturate the industries and stop worrying or waiting to be accepted & recognized because you already are! Mabuhay!
ОтветитьI'm an animator doing stop motion and cgi shorts as my hobby.
It's annoying that some of my friends call my work as "pambata lang" even though I am also doing my best to make my shorts appeal to all ages including adults as well.
Plus there is a fair amount of animated shows aimed at teens like Dragon Ball Z or Simpsons.
Next time you call cartoons as only for kids, I'm gonna force you to watch the Animal farm cartoon or even any of the NFB Shorts so you would know animation is a medium that does more than one genre.
I think the animation age ghetto is to blame on why there are no Filipino cartoons, since they mostly see it just as a marketing strategy to keep kids entertained even though animation wasn't just for kids in the first place.
Filipino ako pero baka skill issue lang yan.
ОтветитьPLEASE SPREAD ITI MAPUKPUKAW A FILIPINO ANIMATED MOVIE ENTRY FOR OSCARS 2024
ОтветитьNah animation ra sa kabuang ranato dae 🤮🤢👎🤑🤑🤑
ОтветитьAnswer is money. We cannot compete with western budgets. That's why we work for them despite our talent and skills to envision our own and just integrate some Filipino ideals into their projects. We are the sailors and skippers but not the owner of the boat.
ОтветитьI tried with Trese. Good vid! 👍
