How does one upgrade the NGRAVE zero's firmware?

Can you help ease my concerns ? I am having trouble understanding how we can FULLY trust hardware wallets. For instance i just bought a SafePal S1. I love it. I am however concerned because its made in China and what if they decided to write software that would expose my seed phrase via the QR code. Is this a legitimate concern ? Should we be concerned about this kind of thing for all hardware wallets ?
