True, probably one of the most realistic zombie games and is hella immersive, not to mention can be modded to hell and back to customize the experience to user's taste. The topdown with 2d-ish graphics has its own kind of charm too.

Everyone is always so scared of the helicopter event, but it has never killed me in my almost 300 hours gameplay. All you gotta do is get indoors and stay indoors and he will just fly around the map looking for you and the zombies will migrate and follow the sound but won't go directly to you. You might end up with a few smashing their way in just because the sound lured them by the windows but it is never very many when it does happen it seems. They are usually easily dealt with or if you just get in a closed off room they just wander off out of some other window following the sound still

Project Zomboid is THE definitive zombie apocolypse expirience that zombie games of the past failed to provide. I can attest, as I was born before the zombie craze in video games. I loved the George A Romero movies and when zombie games started to come out, I was over the moon (expecting something like zomboid) but quickly learned that game devs did not understand what people like me wanted.

So alls we got is normal games we had already had before but with a zombie re-skin, complete with linear gameplay and zombie bosses (special undead) *vomits. Don't get me wrong, Resident Evil is great, Dead Island is great and so is Dying Light 1 but they don't offer the survivor expirince many like me are looking for. Even the first few sandbox type ones just didn't understand what many zombie fans wanted from a zombie game. They would just make it Rust (with zombies), Minecraft (with zombies) or a Battle Royal game (with zombies).

When I played zomboid, I realised I had found what I had been waiting for since the early 00s. It is a masterpeice. It is the only game that lets you live out your own story of survival in a traditional zombie apocolypse with full shamble, full dead zombies.

I must say, I see many zomboid content creators use rim world music. I honestly love it tho another good game with great music

to be honest, i never knew there was an option to turn off sleep settings. my friends would normally just yell at each other at a certain time to all collectively go to bed or off each other so someone CAN go to bed

They should make an option where it saves how many days you survived and spawns your zombie on that day, and makes it stop spawning if its killed

I bump the onset time up to 12 hours. No need to spend 3 days dying. That brings up the sandbox options, which is another awesome feature. You don't even need the incredible mods to tweak the basic game to get variety. I tend to make 2 or 3 characters so that one is "the athlete", another "the carpenter" and yet another ""the cook".
Build 40 was this washed out pastel scheme that was really fantastic, but I finally switched over to to 41.
It is wonky that the character can't just suck it up and eat whatever the fuck is there to keep them alive.
I fair treatment here, from the standpoint of well over 2,000 hours. Good job man!

I was looking for proper survival zombie game for long time then run into this game,i was exstatic,at first i didnt really like fighting style and it was all overwhelming but then i started learning things then realized i can customize every possible option in game,played long time vanilla,5 years or so then decided to add some mods,once i realized what mids can do its just amazing how this game became from bad graphics and silly fighting style to 1000 games in 1 through sandbox and mods,like if you want you can just play game without zombies,or be terminator with highest population,or play i am the legend style

Eventually this game is supposed to have ai survivors the screaming and other events make alot more sense

Project Zomboid was the first zombie game I've ever found that properly fulfills a very specific niche I wanted from the genre. For years, all I wanted was a proper zombie survival simulation game where you have to craft things and build a base and feed people and all that. And NO ONE was making them. The closest I got before PZ was State of Decay, and only the first one. The second decided to go in the same boring direction that every other zombie game was doing.
So I was thrilled when I found PZ. It was the first zombie game that was exactly what I wanted it to be.

I got PZ back in 2016 back when it was still 100% 2D, no cars, had awful multiplayer, and every weapon was visually a bat or an axe in your hand, even if you were holding a crowbar. Even at that time, it was still an incredible survival game. Now, it’s on a whole new level of crazy good. And can literally only get better. Hooo mama.

The rain water is tainted bc the air is tainted. The same air the water was mixed with in the form of gas before it fell in liquid form. Your character is immune you inhaling the virus but isnt immune to ingesting the virus.

Kinda wierd why a zombie game like this has never been created before. The PS1 RE games were good but after that the zombie genre got ruined by gen-z normies. Left 4 dead is trash, Dayz is trash, Days Gone is trash, Resident Evil 4,5,6,7 and VIllage are trash. None of those games are actual survival zombie horror but Project Zomboid definitely is.

Why has it gained a bunch of attention a year ago? (imma explain in food like terms) Because a group has wandered into a small restaurant and said the food was very good which isnt wrong but not true so they posted it on social media and alot of known people came to taste the food and came back but they stopped because PZ is a overcooked dish with too few ingredients. Its good but its not that good. There are 2 other Zombie games i would consider a mile better for various reasons those being Unturned for the free gamers and 7 days to die for the paying gamers.

Zomboid is very popular, so popular that it is full of players who dislike the game but want to play it for its popularity.
I like that the devs said clearly that they will not be changing the core of the game because people want "another chosen one game". Go be the commander, or the Warrior of Light if you want. Here, you die.
If devs were to listen "the community", every game would be a MMOBA FPS LOOTER SHOOTER (yes, I know, makes no sense, and that is the thing).

Absolutely love the Rimworld music. What is it about that games ost that works great in zomboid?

I think the reason why water is tainted in rain collectors is because either:

A - The Airborne Virus affects the water as its coming down
B - The trash bag you use to collect water has had some nasty stuff in it
C - Rain water is naturally not safe to drink in our world too, you usually have to filter it, because rain water has bacteria and other nasty elements in it.

the thing you said about traits being dynamic are fixed by modders but i dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing, cus if a modders are fixing something that devs fucked up, is that game really a good game? Me personally i love project zomboid but its not hard to see why ppl'S may not like it.

Sooo, on the topic of dynamic traits. Here's the problem: I do have the mod (bear with me) which allows you to overcome negative traits so I took severely underweight, agoraphobic, cowardly and hemophobic (amongst others). Value-wise, that's a shit ton of positive perk points which really just need me to kill 2k-3k zombies and survive for a few months.

Yes, this isn't a beginner-friendly strategy but once you know what you're doing you can be pretty fucking OP. If dynamic traits were in the base-game I think you'd have a balance issue.

Pour canned beans into a bowl and then cook it to remove the unhappiness it gives you :)

What is worse than getting killed by a zombie? The zombie that killed you the second time is the first character you created. It happened to me...twice

I turn thirst, hunger, and fatigue increase to "very low". I found it ridiculous that I was dying of starvation and dehydration 10 minutes into the game. I also turned the day lenth to 2 hours, so it balances itself out.

CREATOR'S NOTE: Have to address the tainted rainwater comment as I'm getting heaps of comments refuting that - I think the reason it seemed less plausible to me is because I have lived the majority of my life in small town tropical Australia where rainwater collection is reasonably common and it would be nowhere near as polluted as it is in many other far more densely populated countries and urban areas around the world. So my take on that is obviously very biased. For a place like Kentucky it would make sense for the rainwater to be more tainted than what I'm used to. I am big idiot. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go pour myself a nice big glass of unfiltered rainwater.
