This is beyond brilliant - I've wanted something like this for years as a SOMI fan, and you didn't disappoint. You should be so proud. Well done!! Can't wait to see your new DOTT making of. :)
ОтветитьI can remember wet and windy days growing up in the 90's in Britain where when i couldn't physically go out but was able to transport myself to the days of pirates, the music, the sounds ,the endless puzzle solving while it pelted down against my bedroom window.
We were such a lucky generation
So great! Thank you!
ОтветитьBeat the first two for the first time thanks to Sea of Thieves finally inspiring me to give them a shot. I’m an impatient gamer so I avoided point and clicks other than telltale games based on properties I already loved. But I wanted to get all the references and stuff coming to the DLC so I played and fell in love with both. Definitely glad I experienced this amazing and hilarious adventure. And my face when the final scene of MI2 happened looked like Guybrush’s face when he drinks the grog from the cottage
ОтветитьAmazingly well researched and put into a very enjoyable piece.
ОтветитьThis was so cool, thanks a million. Super interesting to hear these stories. Absolutely loved it.
ОтветитьReally enjoyed that thanks so much for producing!!! I played original Monkey Island on the Amiga around 1993, and the sequel not long after. Completed both of them. Such fun.
ОтветитьSO much fun to hear from the original people who worked on it :) Very well put together! THank yoU!
ОтветитьDoes anyone know what programming languages they used in development?
ОтветитьThere aren't very many games i see being remembered 30 years later. MI was and through the remakes still is a fantastic game. Thank you for assembling this video. 😀
Edit: Using MI Soundtrack during the video is a perfect idea !!
I first played these games in like '95 when i was 8, since then i replay them every couple of years! even now that im 36, i still play them on my tablet using scummvm, it never gets old! :)
ОтветитьOne of my favorite games of all time and an honor to play it with my son who also loves it. Great game, and a great video exploring it's history. 😀
Ответитьepic game!
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьThis is an abolutely fantistic video!. Im 47 from UK and i remeber my Amiga days like they were yesterday (i had an A500 first for christmas thx Mum and Dad! and later a A1200 which i upgraded to a HD, i think, and then finally a CD32 all of which i SOLD ALL of it, later in life. What a mistake!!) and I'm actually in the process checking out all the games i used to play via WinUAE. I remember buying The Secret of Monkey Island, i think after a magazine review (i could be mistaken but i was buying Amiga Format and later amiga Power religiously so i think it got a very good review score) i think its was about £25 which was not a small amount of money for me in those days, and i remember the mail order company had completely crushed the box in one place. I wasnt happy about that but still was eager to play. It was such a great game and i remeber how much fun and satisfaction i had playing this game! I love hearing about all the artist and programmers and designers and their stories and opinions in this video. My daughter is only 12 but already really like story telliing and is thinking of writing a book. Im going to advise she plays this game and see if that has a possitive impact on her alrerady creative mind. The last few moments of the video where Mark Ferrari relays his thought on life and story telling has led me to write this comment!
ОтветитьDave Perry is a little off in his recollections. The Amiga version of Monkey Island came on four disks - NOT eight. And even then, you only used the disk relevant to the particular section of the adventure you were on - so you rarely had to swap disks.
Monkey Island 2 was a different matter, though: A whopping eleven disks!
You all tried so hard and did it. A very fine part of our childhood.
ОтветитьAND android games feels so soulless now for children when you have been in this era.
Ответить4 the algo
Ответить<3
Ответитьwhenever im asked what my favourite game of all time is, this is the answer. this was a great and well researched documentary, thanks.
ОтветитьListening to Mark Ferrari is fascinating
ОтветитьThe DOTT video was so good, I decided to check this one out, too!
Very cool! Classic game!
i play the monkey island DLC for sea of thives and its is absolut fantastic. meele island and all of the old quests are included, it almost feel like a remake
Ответитьahoy has a way better video
ОтветитьRon Gilbert is a legend.
ОтветитьWhen I installed my first SoundBlaster in my PC and I heard the music from MI coming out from the speakers.... unforgettable.
ОтветитьOne of my favourite all time games, remember playing this in my amiga 500.
ОтветитьWe actually had Cal Worthington commercials in Sacramento California (Northern California) when I grew up, my brother and I used to drive out parents crazy repeating his sales jingle "go see Cal!" Plus he always had tigers, chimpanzees & other crazy animals in his commercials, which was awesome lol.
ОтветитьI love the two first monkey islands and all other lucasarts games so much
ОтветитьIf you were young in the early 90's you watched video game grow in scope and quality by a ridiculous amount. And damn was it fun.
ОтветитьThis is the second greatest documentary I've ever seen. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
ОтветитьI wished I had an Amiga though I did love my ST.
ОтветитьThe GFX are still great. Such amazing work and that animation is fab.
ОтветитьWhat a superb doc this is. Very well paced and structured. Consistently engaging. Cheers!
ОтветитьSo the game made by a bunch of passionates with a lot of free time and no pressure from stakeholders or pointlessly employed three-letter consultancy agencies became a huge success which lasts for literally tens of years and going? How surprising.
ОтветитьHaving listened to the Ahoy documentary at least 20 times, this was refreshing and fun. It's great how different coverage can be so complementary.
ОтветитьI just loved this, finally watched after sitting in my 'watch' list. Great job, well done.
ОтветитьLegendary
ОтветитьThe aesthetics of MI 1 to 3 (especially 3) created a whole style, referrenced all over the place. Groundbreaking
ОтветитьThank you for this unbelievable video!! ❤ I’m an 80’s kid and I’ve been playing the game now; never had the hope to hear these guys telling about pixel dithering, insult writing and so on. And you put the right scenes in the right moments, that’s so satisfying! Like when he says the character never dies, you show him hanging around underwater 😂
It was great to hear others saying they still laugh out loud with this game’s humor, cause I do too 😅
Thank you so much!
Every time I see this thumbnail I can hear the music
ОтветитьIt's hard to imagine that there was ever a time when Mark Ferrari wasn't the Elder God of color cycling.
ОтветитьI remember getting only partway through the three trials and then it was the end of the day and time to go to bed.
ОтветитьSo cool to hear about the background of the game and how they came up with the story. Today a producer might have forced the developers to work faster.
ОтветитьGood old times…
ОтветитьI remember the paper disk.
ОтветитьThank you for compiling this documentary. So much detail and we'll edited.. Much respect and best regards.
