Quisiera que mi familia ponga está música en el momento de mi fallecimiento. Fauré sin ser un gran creyente supo plasmar un momento en el que un Dios más misericordioso que justiciero recibe al alma.

Andrew Lloid Webber is being called a genius for composing this music ...Faure composed it in 1890 the kind of people who think he wrote it are fans of Andre Rier (?) I think that's how his name is spelled.... everything they both do is in shocking taste... "Dont cry for me Argentina" is Brahms' 3rd movment of his Violin Concrto I'm surprised he didnt take the credit for the first 2 movements.

I stumbled across this video the other day. At 18'40" the statuesque Chen Reiss stood and gave by far the most moving and beautiful performance of the Pie Jesu I have ever heard. It instantly brought me to tears. Reiss just gets it. Her voice is beautiful and smooth, vibrato shimmering, never overpowering, intonation from the heavens, and her expressive eyes and smile, the coup de grace. The entire performance with Jarvi at the helm, phenomenal, as always, but at go -time, Reiss lifted that hall to an entirely new level.

I'm a little late to the party, so to speak when i see the date on this, in discovering this videoed performance. This is SUBLIME! I've always loved Faure's compositions. Maestro Paavo Jarvi is a marvel (but then again is entire family are geniuses) & the choir, soloists and the Orchestre de Paris are simply divine! Watching this again & again as I work. I'm looking forward to listening online on BBC Radio 3 to the 2019 BBC PROMS at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Orchestre de Paris will be performing in August this time under the baton of Daniel Harding. So excited following them. This ensemble is resplendent! Many thanks for sharing this video. :)

Preformed this in a choir once, here for the nostalgia. Still one of my favorite pieces of all time.

This requiem is like a nameless flower blooming in the wilderness. I especially love the transition from IV. Pie Jesu to V. Agnus Dei and Lux aeterna. Faué is a wonderful composer.

had the honour to experience this music live on two occasions, and one performance brought me to tears - of beauty.

One of the most hopeful requiems - You might note that the "Dies Iriae" is substituted for "In Paradiso" ;-) This was made official by the Church some years later.

Faure composed many versions of his requiem. At the Faure funeral a fully orchestrated requiem was the version that we now appreciate. After playing the organ at many funerals over the years, Faure declared that, " I wanted to write something different." The Faure Requiem for me has a freshness that always draws me into the work , no matter how many times i hear it. This Paavo Jarvi production is very fine. The sound with good speakers is superb. Both soloists are excellent. Chen Reiss, here, sends me out to a space i love. It has become a favorite version for me. Another fine addition to our collection from roger bridgland.

Probably the most best and most expressive rendition of this work that I have heard.

I came to this because of Paavo Jaarvi and my love of this great work. I was not disappointed. Jarvi's performance is passionate without being overly dramatic, delicate without being too inoffensive. I congratulate everyone who was involved in this wonderful performance. Thank you. Roger, for sharing it with us. It will stay long in my memory.
