It doesn't affect me much if people think I'm nothing.

The problem starts with me doubting myself because I'm nothing for myself.

I haven't achieved what I wanted.

Feminism and woke culture should also be taken in account when talking about how men are perceiving themselves in modern society.

These "schools of thought" imply at their very core that men are the source of pain and chaos in the world, since according to these groups men are privileged (whatever this means) and in positions of power. So the masculine figure is becoming more and more drawn as a villain as if we were living in a comic book story. This assumption gets even stronger especially if the man himself does not belong to any identity group (black, homo, etc).

However, we could safely say that most men that is not into any fragmentary group (the so called "white cis man") can't see themselves in such a way, since they are struggling their own battles just like anyone else, in a world that is highly competitive and unfair.

The consequences of this ideology might be negatively affecting men's mental health to say the least, especially the young ones, since they don't fit in any of these groups because they are neither an "opressed minority" to justify their miserableness, nor a powerful rich man who is oppressing everyone else.

Put this all together and you create very frustrated men who can't see themselves as part of this highly connected and falsely virtuous society. You either down your head to the woke groups and convey to whatever they say or you get hunted. Or you can fight back in the smallest sense possible and become a "right wing extremist" who should be banned from society.

It is also very important to remember that men has been historically raised not to talk about their own feelings or even express them. If you do, you are frequently seem by others as weak and sissy or unreasonable. Thus, movies like these have great appeal to men because they are the manner to communicate to the world what most of us struggle in our silent and - many times - lonely journey.

"The first duty of every man is to think for himself". For me it's not a modern crisis, it's simply a realisation for men that the whole world and society is artificial, and you have to choose what YOU want to do, and how YOU want to shape the world. I think this is simply biological because for reproductive survival men have to make their mark and stand out (show their peacock's tail). That's not to say it's about attracting women, but defining yourself. In primate societies women get their status from men, so human women are often more into marriage and the social status of their husband.

The crisis of masculinity is nothing but men's mental health progressively deteriorating due to their (natural) failiure to meet the rigid constraints of modern western image of masculinity. Our society grooms boys to think that in order to be a man they have to meet a streotype that is unachievable without a great deal of suffering and self harming habits, that in the end only turns them into predatory, bitter, frustrated individuals who hate everyone but mostly themselves for all they have put themselves through in order to be "a true man" even if the "true man" was a made up construct all along.

And yet when a man's "feminine" you attack him, treat women as objects and mock someone when they decide to get help. I think The Sopranos is a good example as well about Tony trying to "hack" his anxiety and depression, breaking it down until finding the source of his behaviour manners, but meaning to keep his mob lifestyle at the same time.

As far as what im concerned, the basis of what it means to be a man is mainly of 2 values, to provide and be brave - traits upheld by the athenians and unanimously agreed upon by many in the past. From scholars to infantry men. To enact as piller stones within society is not a volition. It is a necessity.

I subscribe the pathology of these characters less their internal motivation to be a specific type of masculine/man, but rather to experiences in interplay with predispositions to bring on the formation of their individual pathological psychology. Ptsd, complex trauma, trauma, attachment injuries, abuse, neglect. Have cultural influences regarding masculinity and sozialisation have contributed? Likely. But that's only one piece of the mosaic of the systemic origin of these lonely and dangerous men. And looking at it exclusively through a lens of masculinity isn't comprehensive enough to grasp the complexity of the formation of such pathology. The question as to why these men became the way they are isn't answered by masculinity. Otherwise every man would turn out this way. The question is why do these men turn into these versions of men? And the answer is multifaceted in my opinion. And is it time we redefine masculinity as a society? Absolutely. Let's broaden it up and get rid of some bs. The idea that every man or woman has to be certain way is just ridiculous.

The more you follow Bateman regime the more psycho you become. I think life should be balanced. Maybe it's okay to eat one cookie instead of abusing a homeless man just to feel something. Bateman is dead inside coz he follows perfect routines.

One thing I always found odd is that there are men who idolise Patrick Bateman and Tyler Durden wholeheartedly and think of them as the definition of how masculinity is in a modern age as though both characters aren't meant to be cautionary tales and humorous lunatics within the books they're based on. Chuck Palahniuk the author of Fight Club writes transgressive fiction meaning the main characters are meant to be outsiders hence the sympathy men have for the narrator and Tyler but Palahniuk wrote the book as a critique of the straight white male violent fantasy. And in American Psycho Patrick Bateman is meant to be so out of touch with reality that he's funny and the book becomes a satire. It's just always seemed odd to me that a lot of men identify with those two characters in particular considering the way they were written.

Vis a vie the argument and the not knowing who is what, the separation of all things establishes the judgement of a soul or an argument, with regards to its effect on the world. You may reach valhalla or elysium it is certain, you simply may, you are granted this thing, that heaven shifts to reassert assets or threats into temporal divergence does not mean the objective of the one life is the objective of the next. Asign life as a limitation to the perceptual clarity that all things are considered.

I dont really care what others think of me, how they view me, if im popular or "self actualized", I just want to be sure that my family will be able to eat and have proper healthcare. I guess in a way Im lucky, because through having real struggles I become immune to made up ones, and thus can actually enjoy life outside of my real struggles.

It appears as though for some people I wasn't clear with the message of this video. So let me elaborate:

Research Question Why do men relate to "literally me" characters so much nowadays?
Hypothesis Does it have something to do with the "crisis of masculinity" in the modern age that Fight Club tried to warn us about? Emasculation?
Conclusion Yes these are all troubled men struggling with their manliness, who put on hypermasculine personas which alienated them. That's why young men relate to them. All these characters f*cked up at the end of the movie showing that radicalisation is definitely not the answer. However, who would want a video to end on that depressing note? I don't. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that we should indeed embrace masculinity and not let society and conformity emasculate us, but instead of turning into lonely sigmas and chads we can also maintain our humanity. Living a healthy lifestyle, being well-groomed, working hard and being brave are characteristics of these men that we can definitely aspire towards.

I could have chosen a lot of other movies but I chose these because they are so popular right now. Besides that, movies don't have the answer to everything. But this is a movie channel so that's why I use them as an example. Nobody is perfect, but a medium like cinema can help us learn more about ourselves and see relatable characters on screen that make us say: “that's literally me”.
