March 5, 2022. UPS Flight 108 takes off from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC/PANC) bound for Tokyo’s Narita International Airport (NRT/RJAA) during inclement snowy weather. Shortly after takeoff, the crew contact the Tower to declare an emergency, having had an engine failure on rotation. Looking at the weather in Anchorage, the crew elect to divert to Fairbanks International Airport (FAI/PAFA) due to significantly improved weather conditions there. With only one operative engine, can the crippled aircraft make it to Fairbanks? Watch and listen as the pilots and air traffic control co-ordinate in an effort to get the aircraft back on the ground safely.
