Great review, Danny! Really dig the Toshi, such a nice bag. Hope they'll come up with a larger version around 25 liters.
ОтветитьI have an Aer CP2 and the only tech I carry is an iPad Pro in the tech sleeve in the main compartment. Is the main compartment on the Toshi comparable in size to the one main compartment on the CP2? Prefer the look of the Toshi vs Aer.
ОтветитьThe main compartment of the CTB wins - I think. I like the back slip pocket better and the second pocket on the tail instead of the flat foam.
I think the Toshi wins in every other way. Price. Comfort. Ambidextrous slinging. Vertical pass thru. Sternum strap on rails instead of a ladder.
Toshi also ships way faster than EG.
Definitely prefer the CTB20 and an Ultra with AG zippers version would be great for the CTB20. I much prefer a side load for carrying with a roller bag. It keeps you from having to extend the handle so far out, making the roller much easier to navigate and control the roller in tight, heavily populated areas, especially inside airports.
ОтветитьToshi made really some noise in carry community after release :)
ОтветитьFor plane travel, top oriented quick access compartments makes more sense - for either the pack being underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin. Same for top access of the laptop. Side-access of the laptop is an inconvenience while on the plane. For walking around with the bag on your back is when side-access compartments are a win since you can access stuff without taking the bag off your body.
ОтветитьCTB has a different kind of elegance. Aside from the price, CTB 20 all day.
ОтветитьToshi wins every time due to the harness system being created for human beings unlike Evergoods.
ОтветитьI think Evergoods could easily be one of the best bag companies on the market if they simply upgraded their harnesses. They do so much right with their bags (I think they have most other bag companies beat for organisation) - but the Evergoods harness really struggles under heavy loads and just doesn’t have comfortable padding. I went for the rework instead of other competitors simply because it’s more comfy and has a really good weight to literage ratio.
ОтветитьI have to say I’m quite disappointed after receiving my CTB 20 waxed canvas. The bag is extremely stiff—far more so than expected, especially when compared to similar bags like those from GORUCK. The seams feel rigid and uncomfortable against the body, and the waxed canvas on the back panel easily transfers onto clothing, which is a real drawback for everyday use.
What’s frustrating is that none of these issues were mentioned in the video reviews I watched. In fact, many described the bag as “comfortable,” which couldn’t be further from my experience. It would take months of daily use for the bag to loosen up to a ‘somewhat’ comfortable level. I wish more reviewers were upfront about these practical drawbacks, especially when it comes to comfort and wearability.
Peak design duffel bag 35L $?
ОтветитьI was just looking at your video about CTB20 and was shortlisting it with the Toshi Pack, what a timing!
ОтветитьI wish to see the showdown between EG CTB vs Almond Oak Expandable Travel Backpack
ОтветитьToshi pack needs a 26L
Ответитьwow the toshi is $80 less and a pound lighter and more comfortable. Hmm
ОтветитьWas waiting for someone to do this exact comparison! Very thorough video, thanks!
ОтветитьThe Toshi pack reminds me a bit of my Aer Pro Pack 24.
