It is a benchmark to not wear shoes in the mosque world wide, I don't dispute the Hadith but who has a time to clean and ensure his shoes is close to new to pray Swalla. Praying barefoot is not illegal nor lowers the quality of Swalla then why make things complicated

Maybe at his time when the enemy can attack at anytime.

You can only pray with shoes on if it’s on dirt not a proper masjid carpet that gets cleaned every day

If my shoes are not good enough for the floor of my house they are DEFINITELY not good enough to wear while worshipping and addressing my creator. Taking them off is a simple act. Allah (swt) even tells Moses (pbuh) to take off his shoes when talking to him directly (surat Taha). Anyone who claims their shoes are clean enough should stick to their word and walk on their bed with them on. God knows I have a lot to learn but this, I can never imagine being convinced to do.
