This FREE AI Image Gen BEAT Flux & Midjourney! Meet Recraft.AI!

Being a Midjourney user, I don't really have to bother with any other platform out there. I use Midjourney for illustrations for book covers, so my prompts are usually rather complicated and very specific. For example "Eve Ventrue style painting of a 50 years old Greek man with a mustache in the year 1800 dressed in period bloodstained clothing as seen in paintings of the Greek revolution, red skirt who is knelled down and chained to the ground, heavy chains, armed with period firearms, background the Parthenon of Athens burning, dramatic sky, a lot of money on the ground" . With a prompt like this, Midjourney gave me, after several re-rolls a dream cover. It nailed it. But... I woke up at 04.00 am today (for some reason) and thought of having a go at Red Panda with that exact same prompt. Results were poor at best. Nothing I could use for a published piece of work. Mind you, the original illustration goes through a process of fixing this and that on an image processor (Gimp) and also I have to do some prepress work, but it's all a matter of a few clicks. The images I got from Red Panda, were just not up to the task. I also tried the following prompt for my new Black Metal Project, for which Midjourney just kept giving "one of a kind" results. I honestly can't narrow it down to a top 5 choice. This is the prompt "Design a black metal style logo using sharp, jagged edges, and intricate, chaotic lines that resemble the aesthetic of extreme metal band logos. The logo should be circular in black and white, with a dark and aggressive tone, capturing the essence of the brand's motto which is mysticism and hell. The background should be solid black, and the text should be in a bold, white color." For which Red Panda gave me back... honestly a laughable result. It clearly has no idea of the subject. So maybe it's addressed to a more generic user who just wants to play around, rather than someone who means actual business... I don't know, I am just a random guy! And before you ask, the first image is for a book called "Orphan Nation" which talks about how Greece was sold to foreign powers immediately after it was freed from the Ottoman empire in 1821. Like I said, very specific, not for Red Panda.

Cyberpunk lady really shows what it can do. I judge image gens with my standard character and the recent generators like flux and this are pretty impressive.

❌, wrong, still can’t do MOST copyrighted characters, still only does the most popular ones. 7/10 (cause it still gets some aspects right with proper stylization aspects)

Just tried Recraft v3 (red_panda) and it is very impressive! Certainly on par with flux and Midjourney - even better I’d say. The text generation is by far the best I’ve ever seen

There are many AI image generators, but I like Google Imagen 3 the most, because it can create images of traditional clothes very accurately, and can depict places in the world very well

I found the "red panda" come Recraft site very poor on faces. Way behind Flux Dev Lora or Magnificate's latest efforts which do very realistic faces. Very wavy-faced efforts from about 6 months back. Also you can remove background (so can sea art, magnificate, Tensor Art etc etc) but the removal tool to get rid of people from backgrounds is lamentable

Recraft really deserves a full video, I've played around with it over the weekend and it actually feels like a tool for doing real work. They have a mockup feature that's saves a lot of time.

MIdjourney took a major dive. Cancelled. It could not even produce a picture of a Fire Hydrant. Regulation lol.

Blendbox is Good, however its really need some work on consistenty when it comes to Faces, mostly any character or object

I give it a shot, but honestly, it is nowhere near Flux (I hadn't use Midjourney for a while). Using the same prompt Flux gave a better result, like every time. It is always good to have new tools, just don't call it a winner immediately.

lol, you're vastly underestimating the power of open source, open trained models. ELO score becomes irrelevant when I can train whatever I want into Flux, and get a near perfect result

does it use my cpu to generate the images ? i see that cpu power goes up to 190W while image is generating.

I have gotten some images from Recraft which were great, it actually follows the prompt and puts things on a white background which is great for clipart. But it's limited in it's scope and styles. Even though it has a lot of submodels that are supposed to give you different designs they are really hit and miss... In my experience about 1/3 of the time you might get something good from the 'hand-drawn' model which has a thumbnail which might look like the kind of style I want. But 2/3 of the time it gives me something that literally looks like 5 year drew it with crayons. Or you get something that looks like someone older than 5 but without the skills tried really hard to draw something more representative with crayons (dull ones) and even though they tried harder it actually looks worse. So WTF is up with that? They look nothing like the thumbnail style. I can't image any use for these results. They are so ugly. I have tried several of the other sub-model styles and gotten similar terrible results. These terrible images were produced with prompts that I put into MidJourney, Flux, so many of the other models in NightCafe and they all produced way better results than the ridiculously crude and amateur crayon drawings that ReCraft created. The prompts were good. I have used my own, I have used prompts by someone much more expert than myself. I appreciate the background remover, the upscaler, and maybe the other tools like that I haven't had a chance to use because I ran out of credits. But the image generator itself is really hit and miss.
