Venera 13 VR preview

The Venera Venus Program of the 1970s & early 1980s was Beyond Incredible in all that it accomplished.

And that was one area where the Soviets maintained a huge edge over NASA, back in the 1970s, 80s & 90s, the Viking Mars Program of the mid 1970s excepted, which were also quite amazing & transcendent
((the Mars Pathfinder Mission of 1996-97 finally allowed NASA to catch up with & emulate the Soviets within the context of landing probes on other planets, as that was a field where the Soviets were decidedly preeminent for almost 27 years)).

I believe that the whole Shuttle Program was largely a waste & asinine, as NASA would have been better off launching probes towards other planets, all in the spirit of exploration & discovery & scientific experimentation.

For soft landing on one of Saturn's moons, with a probe that converts into a tracked rover, & collecting all types of data on soil, other surface conditions, temps, atmospheric pressure & the general topography... all while searching for signs of microscopic life... strikes me as far more fascinating, exciting & revealing then humans orbiting the Earth (granted such missions often served a vital purpose).

Time for NASA to land on Neptune, drill deep into its soil, track its general atmospheric changes & activate an audio system to pick up on the howling of any wind currents, just as the Soviets managed over 43 years ago on Venus ((the Venera Venus Program of 1970-1982 was the unmanned Soviet equivalent of NASA'S Apollo Program, & not fully emulated by NASA till the early 2000s)).

Actually, based on the terrain in the video, this Venera 14, not Venera 13. Venera 13 landed in a soil-rich region. Venera 14 landed on a basaltic plain with little to no soil (the terrain shown in this video). Venera 14 landed on Venus today, exactly 42 years ago. 42 is also the Meaning of Life. What a lovely coincidence. :) ❤

If you really want to blow the top of of this Pandoras Box, show a side by side of these scenes vs the so called “blast furnace” environments (Illustrations) we were told existed. Throw in some of the conflicted and intentionally misleading data as icing on the cake.
