Let's do food forestry and permaculture work with nature.

I'd love to bring back all the animals we lost but for Bears and Wolves I think most of us we'd not bode well with bringing them back cause that's actively inviting something most of us have no idea how to handle since they've been extinct in the UK for a long time as well as something that could potentially kill us. Since most of us are not ready for something more dangerous then like a deer or cow, especially if we've never left the country before. European Bison we can handle since not too dissimilar from cows and Lynx aren't too dissimilar from cats.

Great idea bringing back the wolves with some thoughtful planning. I think that ‘right to roam’ law is insane. We have some laws like that in the southwest US & I highly disagree with ranchers being able to do whatever they want on spaces they do not own.

Overpopulated by humans so they allow hundreds of thousands to show up on their beaches and stay, to the detriment of everybody AND the nature that is left.

Im afraid rewilding the UK with predators is a nonsense that will not work. The only part of our nation which has enough space is Scotland. However most of this space is managed for grouse & deer shooting where predators would not be welcome. Even non-native mink are viewed as a real problem for small animals, fish and birds in Scotland and are routinely trapped and destroyed. Wolves would be treated in a similar way.
The only way to keep large predators in the UK is in enclosures which is not rewilding.

Or how about the Right to Roam with a double barreled 16 gage? That will make the wolves warry of Man and man's settlements very fast. Wolves are smart. They will habituate the regions that best suit their pray. If the prey is a farm with sheep, then that's what they will do. But if the farm has sheep dogs and a 15 year old shepherd with a 16 gage, well then the wolves will learn that that farm is not good to hunt.

See humans were hunters too in the "natural" world. That does not mean we should all go out on every weekend and shoot up the hills of every wolf and fox and coyote we can get in range of. But shepherds use to keep dogs and carried some sort of weapon. There were a few sheep still lost to wolves. But sometimes there was a wolf that got too close and was turned into a rug for the farmers house.

And Beavers didn't have to go to civil engineering school and then apply for a grant and fill out a bunch of forms and supply environmental impact statements and wait for the various local and provincial governments to have committees and townhall meetings and referenda and even put the Dam project on some kind of National Ballot. No, they just jumped in.

I hope Man can learn to get out of the way more often.

Tarras Valley is a nature reserve located in Langholm, Scotland. The reserve spans over 10,500 acres of land and is one of the biggest projects of its kind in the UK for people, nature, and climate 12. The reserve is owned by the community of Langholm, which purchased the land from Buccleuch estate in 2021

Don't worry. In 30 years the Huge Human population will be a lot smaller and mostly in the cities. So there will be enormous open spaces to recolonize with previously displaced native species. That is my hope for most of the current world. By 2150 I hope that the Human population will be about 1.5 billion globally and there will be vast tracts of wild forests and plains of Prairies and millions of square miles of open ocean that will not see a piece of floating plastic not to mention any sort of commercial or private or military ship or craft of any kind again.

This would be a great idea if people would give up that vegan insanity.
Eat the natural wild meat, stop cereal farming.
It will never happen. It's cereal/bread grains that have led to population booms. A few people can feed thousands by harvesting and processing grains.
People were healthier and smarter and more respectful of nature when they hunted.
I promise you, the majority of people pushing this rewilding scam aren't thinking ahead. You don't need to think long term to see what sort of impact this will have.
Where will your granola bars come from if you shut down your farms? Over seas. That's a mighty big carbon footprint you're creating. But who cares as long as YOU don't have to see it.
China is happy to pollute and destroy their own land, with the aid of slaves. That's why everything is so cheap.

Sorry but the ignorance, hypocrisy and naivete is just painful to see.
You brits love to brag about freeing slaves but you never did. You moved them off shore. Democrats in the US have done the same thing.
You have this insane delusion about rewilding England and happily talk about reducing the population.... as long as you aren't forced to participate in the purge.

Go ahead and admit you imagine the darker skin tones when you think of population control. Sanger would be proud.

What if we experiment with different methods of rewilding? if we were to introduce an analogue species, it would have to closely related and have a similar role to extinct species like for example: substitute woolly mammoths for asian elephants and/or substitute European water buffalo for wild/domestic water buffalo? And if that's an issue we could build a large fenced enclosed nature preserve with jurassic park style fences (not trying to make a real Jurassic Park but you get the idea) and there's been success in Siberia with Pleistocene park, if Siberia can do it, so we!
