I watch this movie every now and then, and it always feels like as good as new. Love George Zucco, he's a legend of classic mystery and horror movies.

Notice the WW2 mileage ration stickers on the cars’ windshields? “A” is for private citizens, B for businesses, C for special professions, doctors, embalmers, military, clergy, etc. Then there were stickers for motorcycles-M, truck drivers-T, and high mileage like delivery vehicles and salesmen-X. Along with the stickers people were issued ration stamps that they surrendered upon purchase. The national speed limit was 35 mph. Ouch!

The little guy with the thick specs shows up in the strangest places!! He was never the star, but in the end he earned his fifty grand.

They don't make films like this any more. The Golden Age.

I purchased a book entitled: "Hollywood's Maddest Doctors". It's actually a biography of George Zucco as well as Lionel Atwill and Colin Clive. It's good to see that Zucco is in good company. Reading about his life is just as entertaining as enjoyable as watching him perform.

Always great to see George Zucco in anything. He's always the smartest person in the room. In this one, he seems positively amused by all the imbeciles around him. And the dumbest one of all is the sheriff. He's so stupid he doesn't understand that sheriffs don't convict people; juries do.
