Joni writes her own songs, songs her own songs and painted her own album covers (some, not all). I love Joan Baez, but rt now it would be Joni that I chose to love the most❤.
ОтветитьAnyone else in their 20s going thru a quarerlife crisis? 😂

ОтветитьAnybody who is old and jeep at the dealer who doesn't know shit and so walked to bus stop and back to get to work. And ergo I'm listening to this
ОтветитьIt always amazing to me that she wrote this song at such a young age. This isa song that resonates so much more as you get older. She is a genius songwriter and singer and no mistake.
Ответитьy is this song so amazing?
ОтветитьMagnificent and pure. Timeless.
ОтветитьI love wonderful talent. ❤
ОтветитьShe was my favourite in the 70s, I remember this song very well.
Interesting that the children of Israel were described as going round in circles.
😊
We can look back at our ancestors and learn from them , maybe means fewer circles. 😊
Nice
ОтветитьI remember first hearing this song at 18 years old, when I graduated high school. I had never heard of Joni Mitchell before, but her voice and the lyrics brought up so many emotions of nostalgia I had never felt before, and this song immediately touched my soul. My school played it as we walked to get our diplomas, and it hit me that I was transitioning to a new chapter and phase of my life, and that I would never forget the fond memories of childhood up to that point that would stay in my heart forever. The line - we can't return we can only look behind from where we came - is a bittersweet way to describe those lingering moments where we feel time passing and our lives changing. It feels like magic to not know what's ahead of you, while at the same time it can feel heavy to know that you are moving away from everything in the past.
Ответитьsuch a poignant, eloquent way to describe the ever-shifting cyclical nature of life. no other song brings me to tears in such a short amount of time. i hope i can hold onto these emotions, i hope i always tear up when listening to this pure art, i hope it always brings me back in time. to those i've lost, i hope you know i think of you every time i listen to this song and i love you endlessly. until we meet again; let me never forget the imprints you've made on my soul. i will never stop telling others about you.
ОтветитьI listen to the most perfect voice I've ever heard and my 66yo eyes sting ......... 'You Turn Me On' ..... 'River' ..... 'Circle Game' ....... wtf is wrong with me man ......
ОтветитьJoni also wrote a song based on 1 Corinthians 13;
Agapé Love.
Emmanuel. Didn't He Do Well!
My hope is based on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweet frame up, but wholely lean on
Jesus Name.
Calvary's Mount is of inestimable amount.
And the subsequent empty tomb. Pick the bones outta that Buddha!
Y'all Come Back Now!
I loved this song when I was a teenager and I loved as an old lady. But like then it makes me feel so sad
Ответитьlabo partyを思い出します!穏やかな気持ち

ОтветитьAlan Rickman, you absolute cad, what did you do to poor Emma Thompson?
ОтветитьThanks Joni for the song. This beautiful song brings love back to me full circle. Gratitude ♥️🙏
ОтветитьJoni Mitchell is without doubt one of the greatest artists of our time but Noel Young is without doubt the Greatest Artist of All Time. He is a humble genius who has provided creative musical leadership for over fifty years from Folk to Rock to Punk, Grunge, Blues, Country and everything in between. God Bless Joni Mitchell, Noel Young and may they continue to be an inspiration to artists everywhere
ОтветитьJoni wrote this song after listening to sugar mountain by Neil Young.
ОтветитьOne of Joni masterpieces.Magic lyrics and backing vocals by David Crosby,Stephen Stills,Graham Nash and Leni Ashmore.
ОтветитьBeautiful song reminds me of my childhood, I'm 62 and this is a forever beautiful song to me
ОтветитьEveryone i listen i can think of time as a carousel but not how we move through time as a circle. We may be going round and round, but every time around, the circle changes, which i guess is said in that old dreams die, but new dreams come
ОтветитьYesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like, when you're older, must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
And they tell him,
Take your time, it won't be long now
Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
This is one my all time favorite songs. Life is a circle, do be careful from where you came, where you are, and where you are heading in the game of life. Thank you 🤗🫶🌟❤️

Joni’s reply to Neil Young’s “Sugar Mountain.” (On the DECADE album.)
ОтветитьWhat an awesomely beautiful singing voice Joni had.
ОтветитьCan never hear this without bawling. My Sister-in-law set a video montage to music of my Son & her Son who are 6 months apart & showed it at a family/church graduation party for the two of them. I picked out the songs. She compiled the photos. I saved Joni's Circle Game till the end. That's the only way I could've gotten through it. That's long ago now & I still have a copy. I'll still watch it every now & then but I really just have to hear THIS or really just think of it to see those old pictures in my mind's eye & get the tears to streaming. This one & Both Sides Now just do something TO me. Joni Mitchell is AMAZING!
ОтветитьAll the previous comments are true. And it's one of her best
Ответить“Bliss it was in that dawn to be alive
But to be young was very heaven.”
“Childhood Is the Kingdom Where Nobody Dies.”
Edna St. Vincent Millay
“In The Year of Magical Thinking, Joan Didion wrote that “when we mourn our losses we also mourn, for better or for worse, ourselves. As we were. As we are no longer. As we will one day not be at all.” Every despair in the world comes down to this, she believes. Every joy, too, I say. Because every joy will run out. And so will every life. And maybe that’s what I mourn as my children grow: the fact that they and I and we will one day not be here at all. No one is getting out of here alive.” — Mary Laura Philpott

See the fair ground, with its carousel
Gaily painted spinning round
All the children love the carousel,
With its merry circus sound
When I was young, I rode the Carousel
Dreaming The World was mine
Changing horses on The Carousel
And never noticing the time
Step right up son, and take my place
Choose your horse to run the race
There is plenty of room for everyone
Now that the last race has been run
All of life is just a Carousel
Spinning faster through the years
People coming, people going
With their laughter, and the tears
And slower turns The Carousel
And I was a child no more
Knowing in my heart that my one ride,
Would turn slower ever more
The Carousel is barely moving now
And I feel the tears upon my face
As I leave the painted horses
I see a young child take my place
Step right up son, and take my place
Choose your horse to run the race
There is plenty of room for everyone
Now that the last race has been run
All of life is just a Carousel.."

From my own NDE of july 1990;
