I wish the Italian operators would speed up connecting their freccierossa or freccieargento lines to the Swiss border and beyond. These trains would be a nice sight to behold in Zürich or Bern train station!

Ответитьalcuni treni in inghilterra sono IMBARAZZANTI. e l’unica opzione carina di alta velocità è la Virgin (e HS2 che stanno costruendo da anni, con manifestazioni che nemmeno la TAV in val di susa), che comunque copre ben poco, e ti costringe a prendere dei trenacci se vuoi andare più a nord di liverpool. inoltre con gli scioperi sono molto più rompipalle in UK che in italia, in questo periodo ci sono stati scioperi ogni settimana..
però direi che tutto tutto sommato sono abbastanza equivalenti, sopratutto se si tengono in conto le linee metropolitane dell’area di londra. ma se vuoi uscire da londra appunto iniziano impicci

-air polution
-needs tones of fuel
-very complicated in operate
-in the event of a serious accident or an attack, the chance of survival of passengers is negligible
-it takes an enormous amount of money and effort to build a safe plane. Airplanes are very complex and expensive to build.
-it is required to search each passenger separately to avoid any hazards during the flight.
Because in the event of a terrorist attack, it is not possible to stop the plane as in the case of a train and release the passengers so that they can escape.
-- the view of clouds while traveling by plane is not the same as seeing the beautiful landscape and life outside the travel
-flying is unnatural, most people have fear of flying
-sitting at airports and checking by airport security is tedious, tiring and time-consuming, and buying something to eat at the airport is very expensive
-planes make a lot of noise
Still Trenitalia would not hire many of the onboard personnel workers like the hostess/stewards that brings food on the first class. These poor people (often young fellas) would need to rely on seasonal external contracts to find a job. It means that every few months they could be dumped by the company. And that Trenitalia could make deals with other companies. I mean it is not even a Trenitalia problem. The more institutional the environment is, the more miserable it gets for people to work in it. Young people have nothing to learn from this country.

ОтветитьIn 2015, we took Frecciarossa from Bologna to Milan. The Business-Class upgrade is not-too-costly, but I recommend it for travelers with more-than-a-carry-on-suitcase.
There's a display of the train's speed, and most of our trip was at around 280kph (175mph). The high-speed trains were a bucket-list item - after a few days in Milan, we took a TGV train to Paris. The Frecciarossa seemed more-luxurious, but we didn't pay for a class upgrade on TGV.
We were traveling shortly after the Thalys-train attack (attempted mass-shooting of 21 August 2015). Once we crossed the border into France, authorities came through the train in three different teams - first, one that checked ID against the passenger manifest, second, an armed team that identified each piece of luggage and which passenger it belonged-to, and third, a team that selected some luggage to open and inspect. (That may have been the same team as did the second sweep.)
It should be better than flying..it cost more...😉👍

ОтветитьWhy just limit this concept to Italy's domestic market - the rationale underpinning High Speed Train services as a commercially viable, environmentally sustainable alternative to short haul airborne travel makes much more sense on a pan European scale. Europe COULD, given the requisite political will and collaboration, become a global exemplar for fast, intra-continental mass-passenger rail travel. Imagine, in a moment of dream-like clarity, a European continent where ALL major population centres (say 2millionmor greater population) are linked by a comprehensive network of true high speed (250 km/h or faster) lines, replete with competitively priced services utilising an array of logically located hubs facilitating platform to platform transfers between said services and minimal waiting times?
• Suddenly the idea of going straight to that ubiquitous short-haul airline website to book your ticket wouldn't be your first option?
• Suddenly short-haul subsidised (how else do you think they can offer such ridiculously cheap fares?) airborne links wouldn't be the 'go to' choice for the vast majority of intra-continental journeys?
• Suddenly short-haul air operators (the likes of EasyJet, RyanAir, WizzAir, Jet2) would be panicking and rushing to lobby (even more than they do already) European legislators to hobble these upstart rivals with reams of cost increasing regulation?
Unfortunately here in America our government officials are being bought by Airlines lobbyists SO HSR WILL NEVER COME TO FRUITION UNTIL THIS CHANGES!

ОтветитьAlitalia died due to decades of bureaucracy, stupidity, over-staffing and corruption. It had zero to do with trains in any tiny way. Try speaking to airline pilots and staff and you will find not one of them will mention trains.

Thank you for your review. Trenitalia must improve local train service, but high speed is working well and the Freccia Rossa is a wonderful train. And let’s not forget you can go from the central station of Milan to the central station of Rome in 3 hours, no stop. Car and plane cannot beat it.

ОтветитьI have used Italian inter city trains and they are excellent. None of the airport hassles either.
ОтветитьSorry...it is not that simple. Alitalia put themselves out of business by having too many employees (and an inefficient system) which was a great tax base for the government. Airplanes and trains are hard to compare...but that doesn't stop people from doing that. Some Ryanair flights are 8 Euros, but closer to the departure date it can be 400...plus fees, and they get limited subsidies compared to Lufthansa's 9bn Euros...yes with a b. Cash must have gone straight to PE firms (and investing in airplanes and the husk of Alitalia, which they wanted to do since decades) because they sure dropped the pigskin at the airports. Fuel is not taxed in Europe and this has the effect of helping the airlines be the circulatory system for the world's economy...which is good for everyone really. Amazing to me to see the progress aviation has made over time in lowering fuel burn and emissions...and these eco-mentalists want to kill aviation first thing, and call that good and themselves heroic. While never mentioning shipping which has twice the global effect. They should glue themselves to the library, and get an education first. Before they turn into the RAF. Yuck.
ОтветитьI live in New Zealand, and its very common to take very short flights here because the only other option is driving (with a 3-4 hr ferry crossing in between the main islands). The Kiwi road trip is a massive part of our culture and the NZ experience, But seeing this video makes me realize that if the country invested in train infrastructure it would be hugely beneficial to meeting out carbon targets and in my opinion, improving the travel experience for a lot of the country. The only issue would be the ferry where I can understand why people would choose to fly instead but for travel within one of the main islands trains seem like a fantastic alternative.

ОтветитьAirports are such a headache I hate them, I would rather use trains all the time, even buses. Airplanes are cool, but airports are terrible, you have to do a lot just get checked in, waste time in the process, and security checks, all because they can be crashed into buildings.
And right now in 2022 with our terrible president in Mexico we can't use Mexico city's airport, what I would do if I have to fly internationally is I will take a bus to Guadalajara and then take the airplane.
man i wish we had HSR in the U.s .. even one line from san diego to NYC , where people in the center of the country can drive to the nearest station.. this would also promote more HSR leading to the main line .

ОтветитьThe real problem of Italo (The high speed train of the video) is that it's still not connected to all Italy. You can travel from Rome to everywhere in the north with high speed, but from Rome to south Italy the train must use the regular speed. I really hope that we can use Italo in south Italy too.
ОтветитьI prefer taking train over flying, but I'm 18 years old and always traveling on a budget. I recently flew from Paris to Nice and the flight costs only €37. The train would have cost me €120, they should make train traveling more affordable for everyone.
