Second thumbnail is wayyy better! 😅
ОтветитьWatching this video makes me miss the good old days back then as a kid I remember going to the arcades seeing Space Harrier , After Burner , Golden Axe , Altered Beast , fell in love with Sega especially the After Burner cabinet and Space Harrier games theses games is what I always wanted to play first when I got to the arcades here in Australia back then oh man the great memories I have those were the best days growing up
ОтветитьGreat video as ever!
Ответитьeither the master system or the megadrive or even both consoles could have handled ports of these games released between 1989 and 1991, just like the saturn could handle ports of arcade games released from 1993 to 1998. interesting concepts for some of these games here. the arcades were truly alive back in the eighties, the nineties and the early/mid 2000s with various developers besides sega making games for the arcade. i go into arcades today and they aren't the same as back then when young gamers played to win and complete games. neither the hunger nor the passion are present in today's gamers. the arcades are a bit too family oriented for my liking.
ОтветитьIn the arcades in the 80s , Sega could do no wrong and stood alone as the most powerful arcade boards of their times with only Konami coming close to competing with Sega and why isn’t Afterburner available on Sega Ages on Nintendo Switch?
ОтветитьI was lucky enough to play the sega r 360 a couple of years ago. It was fully working and full of awesome even if it was based on g lock and not sure what board.

ОтветитьI hope this system will be supported on the MiSTer FPGA soon.
ОтветитьThese were simply jaw-dropping back then. Afterburner was pretty much the most awesome experience you could have as a video gamer.
The full cabin was very rare in my country, but when I finally found one, oh boy..🤤
Sega always was number 1 with there arcade machines.
ОтветитьFunny to see the After Burner cabinet ad in spanish!
ОтветитьOh the let down when played monaco gp on the Genesis!!!!
Ответитьsega cd could have been the king of all these sprite scaling games.
ОтветитьActually, the Amiga version of Line Of Fire was quite good, and it featured some sort of hackish sprite scaling as well.
ОтветитьWouldn't Last Survivor be the first ever Battle Royale game lol
ОтветитьSega has been and still is sitting on a heap of treasure but thinks, "Nah, I'm sure nobody would like to play an arcade game compilation at home..."
Ответитьlove the vids man, love watching these just to hear the music in the games and to learn the history, love the era of dedicated sound chips ( its a era i was born too far after to experience ,i was born in 2002 ) but love , im currently learning music trackers so i can make retro game music the proper way
ОтветитьNice overview. i was a pro at gp rider the main trick is letting go of the gas and breaking all the way at the turn with all the signs. very satisfying once you get the hang of it
ОтветитьRacing Hero is fantastic.
ОтветитьAs a teenager, I played A.B.Cop religiously when I used to go to my local arcade - damn, I loved that game. I just remembered about it when your video brought memories flooding back. Those were some good times. Thank you for that 😃
ОтветитьThis era of gaming is so foreign to me even though I lived through it... I grew up in a tiny town of about 3,000 out in the sticks, and the nearest arcade was over an hour's drive away. I would vaguely see that they existed on shopping trips to the "big city" (usually a fast run to buy school clothes) but that was about it. For me, gaming was a "home console only" experience for all practical purposes. I'm glad you're giving us a window into the world of the arcade as it existed around this time, and especially for the highlight on Sega's legacy!
ОтветитьOnly man on the planet that ends sentences with "however".
ОтветитьI wonder what the likes of the programmers behind Panorama Cotton or the 3D sections of Toy Story could have done with Sega's super-scalers...
ОтветитьThere was a Super Monaco GP twin version with 2 players head to head. You could also hook up 8 deluxe cabinets. Though you would only see those at Sega's Time Out arcades.
ОтветитьAwesome video 👏
ОтветитьAwesome video, one of your best! Love your work man! It's crazy how much of a pioneer SEGA was at that time, not only doing home consoles but all these crazy arcade machines. Different times where the financial incentive was to make the coolest thing ever, as opposed as to now, where it's all about engagement, monetization etc... Cheers!
ОтветитьI'm extremely dissappointed in all the people who are incharge, operate, employ, and produce SEGA products of today. They are lazy and allowing a dynasty to crumble and fail. They need an entire overhaul in the whole staff. We can have so many portable mini handhelds or consoles dedicated to Model 1, 2, and 3, Naomi, Atomiswave, and now this X Board thing I never knew of. Make a soild device so we can enjoy all this excellent technology. I'm tired and bored of Nintendo, Xbox, and Playstation. I'm tired of emulation crap, I want SEGA to step it up.
ОтветитьGreat work SLX! Now I'm ready to kick back with a cold Hosters and light up a Marlbobo
ОтветитьI'd love to see a port of Racing Hero, we got far too few bike games from Sega at home. Hang On is still my favourite racing series from them, '95 included.
ОтветитьSega needs to give us a system 16, system 32 and a Naomi board collection.
ОтветитьIn my opinion, i feel as thought everygame that came out using this board should have came out on the 32x along with Konami 2d offerings such as Simpsons arcade, more ninja turtles etc as the arcade perfect collection. series. Maybe even the Street fighter alpha series and a few others.
That could of given the Genesis a good boost and saved the 32x
Great video, mate!
ОтветитьI've enjoyed playing A.B. Cop today. I'd never heard of it before but it's great fun to play 😊
ОтветитьThe Sega Saturn did a damn good job of these type of games. Shame it died a death and now is having a bit of a rennasiance ;0)
ОтветитьAfterburner I knew because it's famous and Thunderblade has had a lot of videos made of it, but Line of Fire and Air Bike Cop? Never even heard of them, and I feel wronged for that. I would have so loved go experience them, even if it hadn't been in the arcade... if they'd ever even released up here in arcade-phobic Sweden.
ОтветитьNice video SLX. I was absolutely obsessed with Afterburner as a kid, couldn't get enough of it.
ОтветитьIts crazy how long five dollard in quarters let you play these games. You could barely spend it.
ОтветитьI'm in the UK and played AB Cops at my local arcade, so they at least released it to the UK
ОтветитьThese should all have been released on the Astro City Mini. It’s near criminal there are no ways to play these games today.
ОтветитьSega has been sitting on an IP gold mine for ages, content to do nothing with it other then to let it collect dust and slowly be forgotten. A super scaler collection would certainly be amazing(and on disk would be even better), but I doubt Sega is even thinking about something like that. They are probably thinking about how to re-package Sonic for the millionth time. Having said all that, at least we have Sega Lord X to remind us of a time when that company was doing truly amazing work.
ОтветитьLeave it to SLX to educate me on awesome Sega history!
ОтветитьReally wish for Galaxy Force 2 on Sega Ages for Switch! I was blown away seeing and playing it for the first time at Disneyland's "Starcade" a million years ago.Thank you for this and all your presentations.Sega Lord X rules!
Ответить🎉
Ответитьsega went all out when it came to arcade games in the 80s
ОтветитьThanks!
