Immortal, The (Electronic Arts, 1990) - NES Gameplay

I vaguely recall owning this game and playing it. For the life of me, I can't remember how far I ever got.

I remember that this game was incredibly hard.

I remember my friend across the street had this game.... we used to watch him play but never understood what was going on

I always hated the bats that would randomly attack you. Other than that, it was amusing to watch the many ways you could die in the game (like reading the incantation on the back of the medal).

The Genesis has the funny kill animations, but I like the NES's pacing better. Overall a really nicely made game by NES standards.

From what I have been reading on the Web, I am most likely one of very few individuals who played the game with no cheats from beginning to end. This is a great game and quite fun the further you progress in it. There is also a major twist in the 2nd to the last level. It took me over 30 days to figure out how to complete the 2nd to the last level. The dude who made silly comments about this game does not know what he is talking about. The storyline makes perfect sense if you focus on it.

Loved this game on Genesis, this is the first time I've seen it on NES, pretty impressive for that generation's graphic standards, :-) Extremely hard, though...saw an episode of Gamepro once where they detail the final battle sequence, and all the spells you have to use IN ORDER to win...I don't think I'll ever finish that game in my life, but still one of the most awesome gaming experiences I've ever had.

I think the problem is that this game was simply too much ahead of its time. If it had been on the super nintendo, the movement would probably be less jerky, and some of the traps more visible and easier to avoid. As it stands, this is a horrid little game that tries too hard and epic fails itself into oblivion.
