Wow, I've never seen the upgraded versions of throws before! I never knew how exactly the XP system worked in general, I think I'd usually just switch between practice arms and legs.

Then I'd just go into a parking lot and pick a move and keep doing it over and over and over and over...until it finally mastered. And since you cant use throws on nothing, I figured you'd REALLY have to grind with Fuku-san or use only a couple throw moves the entire game to master them.

Plus considering how quickly you can beat the game in Shenmue days anyway seems like it'd take some time. I think I BARELY made it to February my very first time, but every subsequent playthrough I'd finish before Xmas or right after. I still need to buy the HD collection, so I'll have to try doing the practice throw option when I do 😅.

Hey Is there a certain way to unlock the tengu drop and shoulder buster throws? I’ve done some of the other moves and unlocked them but when I was able to spar against Fuka-san I wasn’t able to unlock the two throws! Is there a certain way or requirement to get tengu drop and shoulder buster unlocked?

No holding back. So he put the man in a body caste.

Man shemue 1's combat was wicked. It was a slower paced virtua fighter system but was so technical and good u felt u really were improving as a martial artist especially after upgraded the attack animations once you fully mastered a particular move. My ryu could do every damn move perfect in my current playthroughs. As a kid I didn't understand the rpg mechanics of the fighting as much but if you were good it never mattered. I loved that about it.
