It’s time to bring the thunder with the Eye See Pi from Wren and Cuff. The Eye See Pi is a reimagining of the original IC Big Muff. While the original IC Muff used an RC4558 chip, Wren and Cuff used a different part from the original: the BA4558 op-amp, an executive decision by Wren and Cuff for a meatier, juicier tone. The sound teeters on distortion territory and is a brawny sledgehammer fuzz/distortion hybrid that cuts through a mix like a scalpel, thanks to its revamped tone control. Muff enthusiasts might recall that the tone controls are largely used between 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock, but the Eye See Pi throws this convention out the window, featuring a tone control useful at all positions. There were two concrete versions of the IC Muff, one with Tone Bypass and one without, so Wren and Cuff opted for the more colorful early version with the tone bypass option. The Tone Bypass toggle switch effectively takes the Tone knob out of the circuit for a more raw, unfiltered, open sound. Just like all Wren and Cuff pedals, the Eye See Pi is obsessively engineered for the finest tone possible with high quality components used throughout.
