Use CDE-Small-v1 Locally - Best Small Embedding Model

Excellent vidéo again , im not a dev but more ai enthusiast that take action and try thing . Im wondering i use ollama with mimic embedding , how can i know what embeddings is good ? I saw a leaderboard of embeddings but cant figure out like what is the best for local / fast

How could this be used in normal retrieval scenarios though?
I get how a document embedding will have contextual information from the database but when a user inputs a query (which we will use to search the database) no contextual information is available.
How do we create a single embedding for this query in that case?
