I discovered the same thing when I was 8
It's very easy

The way I did it is
1=1
2=3
3=6
4=10
So my autstic brain noticed a pattern,
1=1=*1
2=3=*1.5
3=6=*2
Etc, the multiplication, I noticed, was half of the original number+0.5 each time, so for example every mumber from 1 to 73 added up would be ((73/2)+0.5)*73=37*73
