Whoever wrote these.... things, in that documentation is not related to tech in any way. It's gotta be some HR low level person that got injected into the SDLC for DEI and sheit
ОтветитьGod who cares
ОтветитьGodot is gonna get real popular real soon.
Ответитьwhy are you so afraid of diversity, equity, and inclusion?
ОтветитьThis is newspeak straight from 1984.
ОтветитьToday these words are "offensive". Tomorrow their replacements will. So long as there's people who profit out of finding problems that do not exist, this will continue until no word is affected.
ОтветитьAgile Program Manager is not a Scrum Master. These term replacements are not written by a technically aware person in the field. Parent/Child can also trigger people who are orphans :O. Active/Passive can trigger smokers. Primary/Secondary - what about those who did not pass primary/secondary education!? I think at some point companies need to start saying no
ОтветитьI remember when I was young, late 30s now, that I wanted a Nokia n series phone so bad, I would die if I didnt get it, she told me “ mijito, entonces muérete” (my little boy, then d13) strong words from my mom, So I got a job and got the phone by myself.
What’s the point on this, sometimes, people say they are gonna die if something is not done in a way convenient to them, so let them D13, and see the outcome, these people say.
Companies need to drop this DEI depravation and say NO. Common sense must rule, not feelings of people who doesn’t accept reality.
The problem with DEI wordplay initiatives like this is that you- in order to abide to them- realistically need to either 1. Passionately agree with the harm those words cause or 2. Feel guilty and apologetic for having harmed people in the past with these words.
These words mean nothing to me, and so it is a hard proposition to suggest there is a problem here. I will not be changing my code language to avoid offending these hypothetical people.
I don't gaf how offended someone is by master/slave, whitelist/blacklist, male/female, he/she.. or whatever common term offends a weak mind. Limitation on speech is against my rights in this country, and there is no right not to be offended.. so eat a d.
ОтветитьDo you see the actual things they’re talking about? why are we complaining about this? some of these industry terms actually do have problematic roots, if you look at their history and don’t just stop at “but we’ve been using them for a long time.” it’s completely possible that some of these are overstepping, but there’s really little reason to be angry about using gender neutral language. if you’re saying, for example, that “men and women want different things,” then that is exactly the thing that is problematic. men and women don’t innately want different things, whatever generalizable differences you find have to do with lived experiences and things more specific than gender.
on the other hand, things like execute, native, white space (specifically), and abort, do not have problematic roots and shouldn’t be policed. so yes, some of this is overstepping, but you have to understand that we still have a problem with a lack of women in tech and a lack of non-white, non-asian people in tech in america. so using language that can make your (potential) coworkers feel more at home is nothing but a win. just use your brain, and consider OTHER PEOPLE’S points of view before you complain about it.
Grow up mate
ОтветитьYou people are terrified of the world moving on without you. Ironic that it's the reason the world will be moving on without you.
ОтветитьWhile I agree that some terms listed on the page is rather silly to include, at the end of the day this is all optional and I can't imagine anyone who are supposedly offended really cares how someone comments their code.
That said we have some pretty outdated terms, and even recent IT literature ephasises this. My curent study/certification material even reflects that terms like master/slave and black/whitelist is terms you sould want to avoid out of principle, and it's not hard to see why.
Seethe more. Things change, industries move on and use new terminology over time. This is really nothing but an old man yelling at the sky.
ОтветитьWahhhh wahhhhh not the inclusive language in documentation!
Grow up.
I like that you say "after the George Floyd riots" and not "after the murder of George Floyd." Really shows your hand there.
Do these changes actually improve the quality and accessibility of coding? or simply serve as a superficial nod to contemporary social trends?
ОтветитьHuh I knew I chose unity for a reason
ОтветитьHow sensitive can you be bro it doesnt matter this much 😂
Ответить"None of these changes matter, it's just virtue signaling."
followed by
"It's about CONTROLLING people using language!"
Which one is it?
Damn. So many dog whistles in the first 60 seconds. I'm excited to see if you have any actual items to complain about, or just general "oMGitsWOkE!"
ОтветитьIf you want this to stop you need to attack the things these assholes hold sacred. Namely, money. Money is now problematic, executive bonus structures are racist, stock buybacks need to be illegal, c-suite is just as bad as the n-word, etc etc. Have fun with it. Calling someone a "manager" should be just as bad as calling them one of those old timey phrases for people who you hate.
Ответить😢 poor little baby 😢
Ответить"it doesn't do anything." 0.41. It absolutely does, the more people take their shit without doing anything, the more power and demands this DEI will have. Just imagine them being able to fire you based on the fact that they think you're inclusive or not (oh wait).
Ответитьwait, how does UNREAL know what i am putting into my code? are they now somehow spying on peoples' projects? is this their AI in action, or have they put a backdoor in to their program, so they can steal other peoples' code for themselves?!?
Ответить"abort" is one that is actually the OPPOSITE of what they are talking about, since abort meant "to end" LONG before abortion ever existed.
so realistically, the ABORTION people should stop using it, NOT programmers, as programmers are using it for what it was intended...
itt a bunch of people "not caring" about pronouns
Ответитьyou cannot use words that may refer to historical trauma, like "nuke". I guess we are in trouble now, like half of words will go under this category, no joke. As a matter of fact, any word in english is connected to real historical trauma for me and may other people. But i guess we can handle it lol
Ответитьwhat the fuck is this comment section, where did all these crazy conservatives come from and where in the world did they learn to code?
ОтветитьOh boy thank goodness I chose Godot for my project
ОтветитьThing is this wasnt needed slave and master has been on its way out parent child worker etc. The other stuff they is pretty silly.
ОтветитьTbis isnt Unreal Engine, its Epic Games.
ОтветитьThis is a freaking joke. These people are all pathetic.
ОтветитьBoth sides are authoritarian forms of government. They both want to tell people how to live their lives, what they can and can't say, and who they should and shouldn't associate with. Come join the Libertarian party if you're tired of this two party authoritarian nonsense.
Ответитьhonestly i could get behind some of these. master/slave comes up a lot in embedded systems and it always feels a bit weird
Ответить"We're doing something without actually doing anything"
Oh but they are doing something Changing language is one of the core tactics of communist subversion. Changing language changes thought patterns, even when you consciously resist it.
nobody has ever claimed that youre trying to shoot someone when youre "executing" code, and pretending like allowlist and blocklist dont make more sense than "whitelist" and "blacklist" because "its how we've always done it!" is enough of a statement in itself.
Ответитьwhite list and black list have been used since the 1920's and had nothing to do with race. [it comes from the white and black books that listed the allowed and disallowed translations of certain books]
Ответитьthis is what happens when people that never touched unreal engine and very likely just use the computer to open twitter is chosen to decide things.
Ответитьmy code is none of their business and i will continue to use whatever words i want
ОтветитьMe (as a transgender female) think this is absolutely stupid. It makes zero sense in my opinion. Nobody cares if you refer as something as a he, her or it.
ОтветитьWhy are you trying to farm outrage about this stuff? It's a pretty reasonable list of recommendations, they aren't forcing anyone to do this stuff. If you read the seciton about things like "abort" and "native" a bit more carefully, you'll see they are NOT saying you shouldn't use them. They are just saying you should be very careful about the context they are used in. For example, naming a method something like "AbortChild()" might be something to reconsider!
ОтветитьStarted learning how to code during the BS lockdowns and seeing this backwards pansy thinking to change words is beyond stupid and bigoted. No one I know is indifferent or likes it, everyone thinks this is corporate BS of the highest stupidity.
ОтветитьThe parasites have infiltrated the IT Industry FML, they should just Ctrl+Alt+Del themselves
ОтветитьPhilosophy Tube Host is a MtF Transformer..
House of the Dragon going WOKE ??
House of the Dragon has Hired a MAN to Play a Woman.
Boycott this anti human bs vote with your money 💸💰
Ответитьwhy should i exclude other ppl for including nonbinary ppl? it should be a choice. if i dont want to have nonbinary ppl in my story and game i shouldnt have to. i am the artist
Ответитьthis is taking the EDI way too freaking far ...
are adding this stuff into games not good enough for theme .
