I'm from Uzbekistan

I'm seriously thinking about going to Tashkent for a week, on the way to Europe from South Korea. The Russian Federation is kinda off limits for Americans, because of the current situation. The upside of being a Russian speaker, is I can still visit the other former Soviet republics like the stans. Although there's a resurgence of the regional languages making a comeback, Russian is still useful. I heard through the grapevine Kazakhstan is considering changing the Kazak language to Roman letters. I personally don't like that. Even though I'm an иностранец, I think Russian words look ugly in Western Roman text. I'd rather see them in Cyrillic.

Yes, Uzbekistan is changing more rapidly than we could ever imagine. But the life is also getting more and more difficult with more pressures with higher prices. Local currency inflation together with US dollar inflation. Salaries cannot catch up the price trends.
