I purchased a 2024 TRD Off-Road because of this video. I saw that Toyota was changing the 4 Runner for 2025 and I was not happy with the changes that were rumored. After seeing that Toyota was changing the engine and making it more complex, I did want the hassles. This is a fantastic car. I don’t need a super fast complicated engine. I want an engine that lasts and I want a car that I can do some off-roading without all the fancy gimmicks. It has what I want and need. This gentleman’s video is the Most thorough explanation of the 4 Runner and easy to understand. Thank you.

I have a 2002 4Runner (3rd gen) 230k mi. Runs perfectly but has dents. I'm torn as whether to put $25k into totally re-building it, or $45k for a 2024.

I drove a 5VZ, the 3.4 (used from about '94-'04) from Washington State to deep, dark, down-south Mexico and back at about 140K. The oil level didn't change to a noticeable level. It was around a 7000 mile trip and it needed an oil change before that. Toyota TOYota TOYOTA TOYOTA!!! A 3.4 making 'only' 190 HP in a 2004 model. The tradeoff is worth it. It was fast too, steering was better than most sedans(4-door PreRunner Tacomas weigh about 3400 lbs, as opposed to 4300; 900 lbs is a huge difference- it probably weighed WAY than 4300 with 5 Mexicans and ALL our luggage- still got close to 19 mpg.). 14,000 miles and the no oil needed to be added to keep it 'above the mark'. These might be better. I hate shooting myself in the foot by making this comment. I don't have one, I want one (again). The best.

The chain on the spare tire is because you winch it down to the ground to get the tire off. The tire hangs on the chain as it's lowered to the ground.

Thanks! Awsome video. Based on this, I bought a used 2023 Limited as my first Toyota! My 2010 F150 has 285k relatively trouble free engine and original transmission. My 2017 Grand Cherokee has 140k fairly trouble free miles (3 water pumps). I dont trust newer ford or jeep. Looking forward to the Toyota experience. Loved it the first month

I've got a 2018 SR5 Premium that I blacked out and put OR tires on it. I've tried to get it stuck in the mud and can't seem to do it. They will probably bury me in it in 30 years.

I cannot understand with all the choices Toyota has made with removing engines like this and all their natural aspirated ruining what they built of a reputation with turbos. I recently bought a 3.5 RX used well cared for I. Order to hang on to a reliable Toyota/ Lexus to have as our retirement transportation for special trips. I don’t trust buying any new car or suv. What was a reliable brand is now not.

This is the best 4runner overview video I've seen. The xreas suspension on the limited is good until it isn't. I removed mine and just put standard shocks in. It was going to be $3800 to replace the xreas. 4runners are super reliable.

I got 2023 Trd Off Road Premium at 10k miles. Everything was good except I had to replace backup camera under warranty. But there's no dynamic yellow grid lines. Only static blue grid box. My Q is does it come with dynamic grid lines? Is there a setup menu I can access?

!!!In short, the 5th gen has quite a few issues. Best bet is to sell the one you have immediately at extremely low price. To me.
